copy the whole hierarchy of the profile on the other machine and

Thank you very much That was easy!

I just did that. but I used Moz Backup. It was very easy to use and got
everything - passwords, bookmarks, emails!

from the support page of mozbackup :

Can I use MozBackup for synchronization between two PCs?
I don't think this is a good idea. If you use Firefox try Firefox Sync
which is better for such task. If you use Thunderbird try to think about
having your mails on server and access to them via IMAP protocol.
Familiar solution you can have for contacts.

I think mozbackup not enough documented

I got the impression that the OP was not trying to sync his new machine
to the old, just that he wanted the same bookmarks, email settings,
theme, etc. Sure you could do that stuff manually but why do that if
there is a tool available like MozBackup?

is that so difficult to copy a hierarchy of folders manually ?
MozBackup may have an interest if one wants to keep backups but it
should have a doc of what it does really

One caution if you do this -- and I do, regularly.

If you simply overwrite the Mozilla folder on the target computer,
Windows will replace files with the same name (which we want), but
retain files that don't exist on the source computer. If your intention
is to sync the two, the target computer will have all the files from the
source computer, PLUS any files that were on the target computer but not
on the source.

The right way to do this (with SM closed on both computers, of course)
is to begin by renaming the folder on the target computer (I call it
Old_Mozilla), and then copying new version of the folder from the
source. When you've ascertained that all is well, you can then delete
the renamed (older) version.

Of course, if all you want to do is transfer the bookmarks file or
something like that, copying one file onto the target will replace the
corresponding older file on the target. The issue I raise only occurs if
you're copying folders onto folders.

What if the two machines use different operating systems? What if the
user name is different on each machine? Items in the prefs.js file will
have incorrect paths.

in that case start over a fresh new blank profile..

prefs.js accumulates tons of useless garbage
absolute paths are a nonsense.
