Right. We need to discuss what we want to link instead. Ideally a page
that already exists, contains good information, and can be maintained
easily. See the bug linked below for initial suggestions.

- PluginDoc

(Which was helpful in it's time... but still refers to Adobe Reader
7.0, JRE 1.4.2 etc.)

Needs to be changed to http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Please file a bug to cover all the outdated links you've found. Thanks.

This refers to the News Portal page on the Mozillazine site. It's -
let's say - rather defunct.

It's Google Adwords and as you know, Bob, Google has been very agressive
in pushing Chrome everywhere.

Update, just started SeaMonkey with a temporary profile, and see the
MozillaZine news site results you get. It is the MozillaZine Support
site I visit daily, and all those links on the news page are active.

does that often.

"Established in 1998, MozillaZine is an independent Mozilla news,
community and advocacy site.

MozillaZine is not run by the Mozilla Foundation and is not an official
part of the Mozilla project.

MozillaZine is hosted at the Open Source Lab at Oregon State University."

Inappropriate default links for Seamonkey ex nihilo installation ?

2012-02-26 Thread Philip TAYLOR

This is a "new build" system, and Seamonkey has
been installed /ex nihilo/ within the last month.
Tidying things up today, I decided to investigage
the default links that Seamonkey provides, and
followed the link first to "mozdev.org" and then
to "mozillaZine". I was staggered to find that
not only does the latter proudly state :

MozillaZine's news site has gone into hibernation.

but it then goes on to say :

Download Google Chrome
A free browser that lets you do more online. Download instantly!
www.google.com/chrome

Are the Seamonkey developers really trying to commit corporate
suicide ?! Why on earth does an /ex nihilo/ installation of

Seamonkey contain a very obvious link to a site that is not
only moribund but which contains an advertisement for an
alternative browser ?
