I tried one of the sites from that page, and it worked quite well
without causing any problems.

However, my question is where is the source of the problems I see at the
Road Runner page?  Is it Road Runner, or is it SeaMonkey?  I can indeed
get a reasonable speed test from the Road Runner page, but then I cannot
manage my cookies without disabiling JavaScript.  Thus, I have to ask if
there is a problem with SeaMonkey's JavaScript or is there a problem
with the scripts in the Road Runner page.

posted through GoogleGroups via Google's G2/1.0 user agent

I can't answer your question directly but try some of the 
speed tests at this website: 
http://www.broadbandreports.com/speedtest
You can also run Flash or Java  based tests.  It may answer 
your question if you are able to get things  working there.  HTH
