Now that you can see the toolbar, you can see that one letter of each menu item is underlined. ALT plus that letter calls that item: ALT-F calls "File," ALT-E calls "Edit," etc. Thank you very much, Paul, Ant and each of you who took a moment to help. One by one I am responding to each suggestion that came through so quickly for the disappearance of my major "tool" bar. Roger, F11 did make two of the two appearing tool bars disappear and then reappear, but still no "File, Edit, View" bar. Do you get a menu if you press alt key on the keyboard (assuming Windows)? What happens if you create an additional profile - accepting all defaults. Do things work as expected with that profile? Not quite a "stab in the dark". Eons of trouble shooting before I retired.
