Re: [Sursound] Proms 2016 in Surround
In the FAQ: http://www.bbc.co.uk/taster/projects/proms-surround-sound/inside-story There's a link to a test player: http://rdmedia.bbc.co.uk/proms/surroundtest.html On Linux, Chrome works as expected (with 4 distinct channels), but Firefox still mixes the 4 channels in stereo. So I would suggest to verify the channels using the test player before listening to the live streams. The Opera browser works because it is based on Chrome. The BBC "experimental surround player" (is it the same since 2014?) could warn users of non-Chrome based browsers. -- Marc On Fri, 15 Jul 2016 19:38:44 +0100, Paul Hodges wrote : > --On 15 July 2016 20:12 +0200 David Pickett wrote: > > > I just realised that the First Night of the Proms is in half an hour > > and the BBC is again streaming in Surround. > > > > Information here: > > http://www.bbc.co.uk/taster/projects/proms-surround-sound-2016 > > Unlike in previous years, going to the link presents a working > 4-channel feed from my default browser (Opera) with no additional > preparation required. It's curious hearing nearly all the applause from the front in a supposed "surround" balance. Paul -- Paul Hodges ___ Sursound mailing list Sursound@music.vt.edu https://mail.music.vt.edu/mailman/listinfo/sursound - unsubscribe here, edit account or options, view archives and so on.

Re: [Sursound] Oktava A-format microphone?
Hi, We got a test model "VR mic" from Sennheiser. We have used it in a few 'live' situations now and like it alot. I am planning for a proper A/B/C test in a controlled environment soon. We have a tetra mic and probably a sound field mic as well. We have a good sounding 100m2 live room where we can do the test. I am open to suggestions for a good test setup. We have a few zoom H8 recorders that can be used as pre-s for the mics. If there are people in the Amsterdam area with other surround mics we can team up and include these as well. What would be interesting signals to record? And in what setting? All suggestions are welcome cheers, Henk Kattenburgerstraat 5 Building 024 1018 JA Amsterdam *T*: +3161694 *M*: h...@spook.fm Spook.fm | Facebook <http://www.facebook.com/spookamsterdam> 2016-07-15 0:00 GMT+02:00 Paul Hodges : > --On 14 July 2016 13:06 -0400 len moskowitz > wrote: > > > Did you know that we offer an alternative to the PPAc system?
