[Sursound] Simulation of personalized HRTFs

2016-04-20 Thread Antti Vanne
Hi everyone,

earlier this year there was discussion on this list about deriving
generalized HRTFs and a reference to our earlier work "Rapid Generation of
Personalized HRTFs" http://www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=17365 .

Now it is possible to get your own HRTF simulated
http://www.slideshare.net/TomiHuttunen1/ownsurround-hrtf-service-for-professionals

Nowadays there are scanning service providers in most cities. If you can't
find one but happen to have access to a structured light scanner, there's a
tutorial video on YouTube on the scanning process

Re: [Sursound] Decent Binaural softwar eor VST ?

2016-11-28 Thread Antti Vanne
Are you looking for a binaural panner for mono sources or for ambisonic
content? Noisemakers' Ambi head allows loading a custom HRTF and for mono
sources there's https://github.com/tmwoz/binaural-vst

Re: [Sursound] How to find best fit of SOFA files from CIPRIC?

2017-10-06 Thread Antti Vanne
Hi,

we use three videos for the reconstruction. One where you go around the
scanned person so that his/her head and shoulders are visible. The other
two are closeup's of the ears, where you move the phone so that all parts
of the pinnae are illuminated and recorded. In the video embedded in the
blog post the ear closeups are actually the ones used for the
reconstruction.

This way we get good resolution where we need it and it only takes about a
minute for the whole scan.

I'll be in touch next week with everyone interested.

2017-10-08 Thread Antti Vanne
You can find some recent papers and a high resolution near field HRTF set
from http://idaaudio.com/downloads/

Also, our CTO published in 2007 first paper to demonstrate simulation of
complete audible range HRTF using parallel computing: http://www.
worldscientific.com/doi/abs/10.1142/S0218396X07003469

Others that might be interesting:

Simulation of head related transfer functions using cloud computing

Our early simulation data was used in perceptual tests, but this doesn't
include personalised HRTFs but simulation of HATS dummy

Re: [Sursound] A submittal for a patent on Ambisonics?

2018-01-23 Thread Antti Vanne
If someone is interested digging deeper into near field HRTFs, there's one
high resolution HRTF available at http://idaaudio.com/downloads/

Sofa format allows storing impulse responses at multiple distances and Spat
Revolution should be able to use that for rendering point sources.
