For dry-washing with ion-exchange resins, Brian Duda provides quite good information at his Biodiesel Supply site: Using Ion-Exchange Resins For Dry-Washing Biodiesel http://snipurl.com/1k2x4x And here - sales: http://snipurl.com/1k2x7r Dunno about vacuum drying, that's what Joe Street does with his vacuum processor. Drying the fuel is no problem without vacuum, however, even when it's below freezing (soon, here = we've already had ice at night a couple of times). Hello Joe, Keith, Seth Macdonald from the wilds of British Columbia. Today it is a moserate -14 degrees celcius. I have considered dry-washing due to the difficulty I am having this winter in keeping my building heated. (i.e. water lines freezing.) I am curious about the method but as of yet have stuck to stir-washing and drying in a hot water heater. Can someone explain the process of vaccum drying to me? I haven't seen him do it but my understanding is it isn't faster. Certainly not faster than washing and vacuum drying. I have a guy here who learned how to make fuel and he tells me his fuel passes the Jan Warnqvist quality test after 'drywashing' . I haven't seen him do it but my understanding is it isn't faster. Certainly not faster than washing and vacuum drying. [Biofuel] Dry-washing
Hello all Is anyone using dry-washing for biodiesel? Anyone, that is, who makes top-quality biodiesel that can take stir-washing in the first place - I have the impression that dry-washing is too often used to mask a poor reaction. And also to "speed up" the reaction, or to make the process "more efficient", which usually seems to mean that people want more production, so then get a bigger processor, or another processor and run them together. I have a poor opinion of Magnesol, messy stuff, people tell me, and/or "for lazy people", as one of them said. (Interested to hear other opinions though.) The newer ion-exchange resins such as Purolite, Amberlite, Thermax, Eco2Pure, seem to do a good job, and there's a case for it where water is either scarce or expensive. I'd like to hear any opinions, experiences, results. Thanks!
