Re: [Biofuel] VW GOLF MK3 TURBO DIESEL CONVERSION
Check out http://www.tdiclub.com/tdifest/index.html for lots of info on VW's and some distributors of heaters for fuel filters, lines and tanks. I got to visit there festival last year where they have lots of help like this but there forum works well also, Hope this helps, Gary - Original Message - From: "Tim Hadland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Thursday, December 22, 2005 9:14 AM Subject: [Biofuel] VW GOLF MK3 TURBO DIESEL CONVERSION > > HI THERE! > > I WILL BE SOON STARTING MY FIRST BIO DIESEL PRODUCTION FOR MY CAR A MARK > 3 GOLF TD. > I AM INTERESTED IF ANYONE HAS THE SAME AND WHAT CONVERSIONS EG 'ELSBETT' > ARE > POSSIBLY WORTH GOING FOR. Re: [Biofuel] VW GOLF MK3 TURBO DIESEL CONVERSION
Lay off on the all caps man. No need to yell at us. I've never used the various SVO systems that you can buy, but I have done a few systems with parts from the auto parts store etc. What I've found to be key is keeping the filter well heated, as it will usually be the first place to clog. I usually add a lift pump to veggie tank to prevent the injection pump from having to pull the oil through filters and lines. SVO also tends to have a bit of water and junk in it, and will clog filters by attracting rust from, or rusting, old tanks. Use a new, or plastic, tank if possible. I personally like a temperature sensor on the fuel line going into the IP and in the veggie tank, but most people just seem to use the engine temp sensor to determine when to switch. Also, motor driven fuel switches can handle cold gummy oil better than solenoid driven ones. Is your car the turbo IDI or the TDI? I can't remember if the Mark III were TDI, or not till the Mark IV. Direct injection is more sensitive to having high enough oil temp before entering the injector pump, than IDI, but I have heard of people doing it. No experience with it myself.
