Re: [Biofuel] question's

2005-02-17 Thread Andrew Cunningham

I would suggest that you replace the cigar shaped hose from the fuel
filter and the line leading to the lift pump on the injection pump
after you have run for a little while anyway. They break down over
time and will need replacing even if you only ran dino diesel. If you
buy them now and put them in the trunk with a screw driver and you
won't have to worry. I'd also suggest carrying a couple extra fuel
filters in the trunk as well. Once again, I'd make this suggestion
even if you were running dino diesel.

There are several good mercedes lists like mercedeslist.com and
mbz.orq - they are great resources.

You need to do nothing to it, it will love the B100 as is, however there are
things you need to be aware of concerning the filters ect.

I have been doing some research but have not been able to find out what I
need to do to the vehicle itself.

Nothing. The only "converting" that could be done is if you wanted to run
SVO (Straight Vegetable Oil) or WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil) directly in it,
but biodiesel is fully compatible to any percentage with your car. You
*might* experience some rubber hose failure, although this is not a
guarentee.

I am very new to all of this but am very interested in making it work it
sounds so sensible I can't believe more people aren't aware of this
alternative.

We're working on it :-)

I live in S.F.- Bay Area so if anyone has information for this area I
would appreciate it.

Re: [Biofuel] question's

2005-02-15 Thread DB

The only modification was to change about one foot of rubber fuel line with
one made of nitrile. After that it was necessary to add an inline fuel
filter before the stock fuel filter because the filters were clogging up
with old petrol gunk. This was the only problem. I sold the car in '04 to
buy an'02 VW golf TDI. The mercedes was still running fine and it still is.
The new owners still come by to fill up with bio-D. I have mad over 2500 gal
since dec 02., and highly recommend the mercedes 300 series.

RE: [biofuel] Question's

2001-10-21 Thread Mike Brownstone

Martin,

I mean increase the initial vinegar during the initial wash stage.

I found that I got crme during wash. Much of it settled out but end result
was lower BD yield. Increasing the acid/water ratio and lowering agitation
helped to increase BD yield.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Hi Mike
I use about 1 L of vinegar per 100L of BD but only at the wash stage
Do you mean to say add the vinegar to the BD --that has a high soap contend
-- and then
bubble wash with no water , BD and vinegar mixture together ???

[biofuel] Question's

2001-10-19 Thread Martin R.

Hi all

can some one tell me how long one should mix the BD for ???
I mix for one hour

also when working out the titration ,I was told that the PH should be
between 8 and 9 is this correct ??
Most of my batches are around 8.3 to 8.7 PH

the trouble that I had with the bubbles in my BD was with the PH of the mix
being 8.35 PH
and still got all the extra soap in my fuel .

How low can you go on the PH scale for the oil mixture to react and form BD
and what is the least amount of Methanol one can use , say in 100L.

Many thanks Martin R.
