Re: [Biofuel] which solar heating option is better?

Hi Jason

I deal with this kind of stuff from time to time; hopefully I'll be doing that
more in the near future. In any event I've given it a lot of thought.

What kind of floor construction do you have? If it's heavy construction
directly on the ground, it could be as simple as laying some black slate on the
floor just inside the south windows. That could even be non-structural, e.g. a
wooden box filled with sand, and something like slate on top, if the floor is
light construction and the joists can take it.

Here's a site I've come across:
http://www.greenhouse.gov.au/yourhome/technical/fs14.htm It's an Australian
site, so you'll have to swop north and south.

Best regards

Dawie Coetzee

i was reading through instructables and found this interesting little gizmo-

http://www.instructables.com/id/Solar-Heater/?ALLSTEPS

-and i remembered a conversation with my boss this morning before i went home,
and got to thinking.
which would be better: having the south curtains open all day, or using a
somewhat active collector like this? i have a couple of concepts to do with
interior window fixtures and stuff, but im not really sure which to use, or if
i should even bother. any ideas?
