What was it someone told me, HIE? Intake, exhaust, I can't remember
what the H is for but the plugs must also have been in that "basic
power upgrades list".

I invested in '95 or so. They had been trying it for 5 or 10 or 15
years as "suazer" or something and the company was called Septima, out
of New Mexico. The idea was to take some sort of Sandia Labs research
(I was told) and use it for ignition. One quality control problem I
know they had at first was cracked plastic cases on them (because of
the intensity of the spark?), but I assume that's long-solved.

I've expected for years to see them show up on an ESPN drag race on a
logo on a car, competing with Split-Fire, but I haven't seen it yet.
I've long ago taken my losses.

Waxing a bit more basic-physics-laws-ish, I think even if one makes an
ignition spark dramatically more intense and quicker, I wonder how to
translate that into optimally improved momentum transfer to the moving
rods. Well, it would appear, from the testimonials, that some folks
claim it did some of this without having to do much more than install
it as prescribed.

One oddball thing about it is that it is not a spark plug (I think)
but rather an add-on for the plug. As I recall, you have to replace
your plugs with non-resistor plugs and then add the directhit thing
onto that.

I'm not very handy with a car, so although I did buy some once, I
never got around to risking my ride.

Many of the more dramatic percentage improvements are in older engines
with more room for improvement, but I think it works in newer vehicles
as well.
