I must tell you that I want to gather the best SVG talent there is, to
be with MobiusPortal. We are currently in the raggedy-assed-ranger beta
stage.
But this will evolve, within 6 months, to be a powerful SVG site. I
will compensate well those that will join MP after beta. Polish your
resumes..I want you.

P.S. We all work online, no need to relocate.

Barend,
I would just love to embrace all browsers and operating systems with
MobiusPortal. However, it is impossible, and I must keep my sanity!
MobiusPortal will only function with IE5.5+ and the ASV3 viewer.
That represent about 90% of the viewing public. I will not design
programs to cater to the lowest common denominator, and the
continually changing browser environments.

[svg-developers] compute width and height of browser window

2005-08-11 Thread sent1729
Hi everybody,

In internet explorer I am could use window.innerWidth and
window.innerHeight to obtain the width and height of browser window. I
could not use the same command (it says "undefined") in Batik Squiggle
to get the width and height parameters of the batik browser window. Is
there a way to retrieve the width and height parameters of the browser
in batik squiggle.

Thanks in advance for any input

Nathan.

[svg-developers] Re: how to write to a file using posturl()

2005-08-11 Thread deeti_dave
Dear Chris,

I am trying to post to url very simple data, but all I get is
alert(urlRequestStatus.content);
 from the peice of code below:

function MyObj(msg) { this.msg = msg }
MyObj.prototype.operationComplete = function(urlRequestStatus)
{
if(urlRequestStatus.success)
{
alert('success!!');
if (urlRequestStatus.content!=null)
{
alert(urlRequestStatus.content);
}
}

}
which shows whole php file content.

Would some mismatch with my webserver, as I am not using
standardized webserver, I have NCServer, which is an ISV webserver.

I would really appreciate it if you can enlighten me a li'l bit
more...
D Dave

[svg-developers] CGUI window

2005-08-11 Thread Marÿffffffffffffffffffffffeda Bazus

Hi all,

I have developed a SVG Interactive Application for a
bus company. But now i have a problem, because i have
to fit the Svg Diagram to the Browser size but the
diagram is widder and higher, i have seen that there
is a possibility using the CGUI widget window, i would
like to put my diagram (that is generated dinamically)
inside a window (or a frame) then i would have my
diagram scollable because the window objet has
scrollbars and fit the window to the browser size.

I try to so that:
var wagens_window = new Window(66,110,1318,722);
wagens_window.setAnchor(SVGDiagram, "right", -10,
"top", 10);
wagens_window.addToParent(SVGDiagram);
wagens_window.createControls( ControlBox.SCROLLV_CTRLS
| ControlBox.SCROLLH_CTRLS);

And also with a frame window:
var ctrl_opts = ControlBox.SCROLLV_CTRLS |
ControlBox.SCROLLH_CTRLS;
var main_menu = null;
main_frame = new Frame (
 66,110,1318,722
 , null,
 false, null, ctrl_opts, false, true,
false, main_menu
   );

main_frame.addToParent(SVGDocument);

Does anybody have done something like that? i have
tried it but it doesn't work because i dont know
exactly what i have to do. Does anybody know any
examples???

[svg-developers] "glyph width" Calculation

2005-08-11 Thread Arun Chakaravarthy

Hi all,

I am doing the implemention of Text Rendering for SVGFont in SVGT.

I am calculating the positions of each character of the text by considering the
hori-adv-x, widths,
glyph-orientation, letter-spacing and other required attributes.

But, if the widths attribute is not given, I have to calculate the glyph width
for each character with my own calculations .

First, I calculated the glyph width just by traversing all the glyph's path
data('d' attribute) and get the difference between the Maximum x value and
Minimum y value.
But my calculations went wrong in case of bezier curves.

I tried Some other ways...but in vain.

I want to know the best way to calculate the widths of glyphs having bezier

2005-08-11 Thread Andre M. Winter - Carto.net
hi sam

no, you can't on a client machine that accesses two different servers.
that is not a SVG issue but has been that way back in 1997 when i first
had this problem. this is a client side script security reason.

you need to make the reading code AND the svg coming form one unique
domain, there is no workaround on the client side.

[svg-developers] Re: read svg file from the webpage

2005-08-11 Thread samcctan
Thanks Andreas!
I think I understand what you mean here. I am very new in this area.
So hope you don't mind if I ask any of the silly questions.

Is there any other codes that enable me to read any svg file in the
webpage? I am actually creating a plugin for Firefox (as IE is more
strict in its security matter), which able to do read svg file from
any of the webpage (doesn't matter where those svg loaded from -
which server).

Is there any other ways to do so?

Thanks,

Sam

[svg-developers] Re: read svg file from the webpage

2005-08-11 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi,

this looks like you are running into the security restrictions.

With .getURL and XMLHttpRequest you can only read data from the same
source than the original HTML/SVG file comes from. This means that
if you read the original file from the local machine you can only
get data from the local machine. Likewise, if you load the svg from
webserver A you can only do the getURL/XMLHttpRequests to server A
and not to server B.

There is no workaround other than using server A as a proxy for
server B, if you need to access server B.

[svg-developers] read svg file from the webpage

2005-08-11 Thread samcctan
Hi all,

I am using JavaScript to read SVG file. At this moment I am reading
from a local SVG file and it is working. But now, I am going to want
to read SVG file from the webpage.

This is my code to read local SVG file (from local machine):

function init(){

readXML("SVGBarGraph.svg");
loadFile();
}
function readXML(url){
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
req = new XMLHttpRequest();
req.overrideMimeType ("text/xml");
req.onreadystatechange = processReqChange;
req.open("GET", url, true);
req.send(null);
} else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
   req = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
if (req) {
req.onreadystatechange = processReqChange;
req.open("GET", url, true);
req.send();
}
}
}

function processReqChange() {

   if (req.readyState == 4 && req.responseXML) {
var resp = req.responseXML;
parseSVGFile(resp);
   }
}

function parseSVGFile(svgDOM){
   ... (my codes)
}

Could anyone help me or give me some advices?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

RE: [svg-developers] Animated Line Drawing?

2005-08-11 Thread Doug Schepers
Hi, AC-

I think what you want is something like this:

The key is getting the stroke-dashoffset correct; it should match the total
length of the line you want drawn. You could write a simple script to
discover the length of your line, or you can do it by hand... Start with 0,
and work your way up by larger increments (10, 20, 30), until you get in the
ballpark, then tweak it by smaller increments.

The second animation isn't relevant to your question, I just put it in there
for style.
