2006-10-11 Thread fumng
hi.

i'm new to svg and i'm looking for a way to set a registration point
on an image i create in svg.

basically, i use svg to describe my objects in flash. in flash i have
a marker symbol, like a pin, and i place it directly on point X.

then the user can print that page as a pdf and i use svg to describe
the pin object and place it on point X again. but it's slightly off
the mark because i can't set the registration point.

is there some way to do this?

thanks for any helpful tips.

Off-topic, but actually I believe ActImagine's technology is SWF, so
Adobe is just acquiring a competitor in this space, and most likely
significant brains to help them write graphics engine best tuned for
mobile devices.

Adobe has acquired vector graphics technology developed by Actimagine.

Why didnt they just use SVG

Seems like they have a new vector technology they are pushing

Hi,

We already made this kind of thing.

Inside inkscape editor, we create different inkscape layers .
eg one for hoover , one for pressed or unpressed view of widgets .
one for describing controls positions through the way of rectangles and
dedicated xml tags

Then, a program processes the svg and extracts the components for the
desired final language :
creates png images for each widget described in the svg file (eg one
image for button_hoover, one image for button_pressed...).

This allows to design a generic rich gui interface for "any" graphic
language (it may be java, xhtml, ).
Thanks to object programming, you will only have to rewrite a new
wrapper for the desired final language.

Best Regards
Steph

I agree that for the desktop, supporting Full 1.1 as well as Tiny 1.2 is needed.

[svg-developers] Help needed...

2006-10-11 Thread vijiie
Hi all, I'm new to this forum and also a beginner in SVG. I'd come
across few files in web which i need to save it as SVG and should view
that. Here I can zoom and pan the drawing and also I find some portion
getting highlighted and some drop down boxes appearing as I move my
mouse over few portion of the drawing. As I understand, there should be
some illustration files or isodraw files or any such files uploaded
which can be converted to svg files. My question is which tools has got
such features inbuilt in it? or the files are normal drawing files
which are then embedded with java coding while uploading? Is there any
way to find the parent file (drawing tool) used for creating this svg
file? Thanks in advance, Viji.

[svg-developers] Re: SVG authoring - web based applications

2006-10-11 Thread Holger Wll
Hi Jonathan

i dont have much time currently, but im working on a personal long
time project in my spare time. its a xul based SVG editor. for that i
have some shape editors, which ive tested in Firefox , Opera and
Batik. i would be willing to contribute these for a webbased editor,
if you like. so far there are editors for:
, and (only
absolute coordinates).
i might find some time to upload what i have so far later, if you
like.

cheers
Holger

this is a great idea, but there is a major problem with this approach.
as far as i know , no SVG editor supports editing shapes inside a
group, you have to ungroup before editing the shapes, and then
regroup after editing, but then all settings of the group, like
transforms and ids ( or in case of a nested svg the viewbox etc. )
are lost , so there is no way you can keep the structure ( and names
 ) you need.

but that is a restriction of existing SVG editors, not an svg
specific problem.

way

in SVG Full you can have nested svg elements, like

you could also use symbols which also have their own viewBox.
but both dont solve the problem described above.

cheers
Holger

[svg-developers] Re: Adobe extends ASV customer support and download availability

2006-10-11 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hello Pat,

thank you very much for this extension. It will give reasonable time
to either get native SVG support in Iex or come up with a plugin
alternative.

Did Adobe do tests of ASV within Vista? Does it still work on Vista?

Thanks a lot,
Andreas
