I notice that Opera 11.51 for Mac OS X doesn't display the page at all, while
Safari and Firefox seem to display it as intended. This suggests that
 something else might be wrong.

opera does not have an html5 parser in a production version.

http://caniuse.com/svg-html5

thats why it does not recognise the svg Element in html.
embeded svg in xhtml is working in opera without problems.

Thank all for your help.  The drawings have a lot of problems.

http://www.pinyinology.com/diaoHao2a/simple/svg/hcircle.html

The drawings are good only on Firefox.  But on Chrome, most of the arrows are
lost, only the headless short bars are still there.  On the IE and Opera
everything is lost.

I have to learn more about svg.  Thanks again.

RE: [svg-developers] Re: How to define canvas?

2011-09-04 Thread David Dailey
Just fyi, the drawings look fine in IE9.

One suggestion to get your document working in more places that might work
would be to just remove the html altogether and save the svg part of it as a
new file with .svg extension. If your HTML is doing anything here, it isn’t
clear what.

Out of curiosity, how much of Archaic Chinese orthography is already specified
by Unicode? Creating a glyph set for Archaic Chinese in SVG would be very cool,
particularly since one might be able to animate the path transitions as the
characters morph into the Ancient and later Modern writing system.

Good luck

David

Hi, David:

I really don't know how many the oldest characters are already on the Unicode,
and how many there are in total.  I hope they are all there, sooner or later.
Some characters are in the following page:

http://www.pinyinology.com/diaoHao2a/simple/char2.html

Thanks for your help.
