Hello all, First of all, I'm not to well known on this list although I'm reading it for some time now. For this I probably shouldn't be ranting arround here. But one thing I keep *wondering* and annoying about is the fact that the swiss networking elite seems not to be able to configure their mailers and mail facilities to correctly and politely interfer with a mailinglist. OK, its requires skills and of course some technical magic to configure something as complex as a mailclient correctly. But for all those who are unwilling or unable to fullfill this job on their own there *is* in fact a solution to this problem. It is (astoundingly enough) possible to use more than one email account for exchangeing electronic mail. So I dare to kindly ask those unable to go without something evil like an *autoresponder* to switch their mailinglist subscriptions to another address where they do not need to inform the senders about their holidays? For those having read this far: Thank you. To all atoresponders: Shut up! cheers, Michi (don't miss the ;) despite all wigging) -- This message is intended for the named addressee(s) only. If you are not the intended recipient, or if you otherwise feel like it, please print this message in 18 pt Comics MS (Unix users: clean is OK) and eat it up imediately. Thank you for your cooperation. ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

Re: AW: [swinog] swiss jurisprudence regarding spam
Some time ago the law was changed to actually forbid importing DVDs from any other country (even EU). It caused a lot of outrage and the law was changed back a year later. That's why there was some time when Code1 DVD was forbidden entirely and DVD shop owner were not allowed to buy their stock in Germany, France or Italy for example. They had buy everything at the official Swiss importers at inflated prices. On top of that the importers didn't want to stock many films and limited the choice. Since about two years DVDs may be (commercially and) legally imported again. Much more choice now again and the milking of the consumer was stopped again. -- Andre Xaver Aerni wrote: > > You can buy online by www.1a-dvdshop.ch ore laserzone.ch > > and ohter Videostores. > > -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- > Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Auftrag von Viktor Steinmann > Gesendet: Donnerstag, 10. Or why do you think you can here to buy a region-free dvd player while you cannot in Germany ? [..] BTW: It's also illegal to sell copy protected music CDs that carry the compact disc label[1], as they do not conform to the compact disc standard. Please don't mix those up, they're 100% independent each from another. The first thing is a legal fact valid for switzerland, it is swiss law (iirc "Verbraucherrecht"). The second is a copyright / patent issue brought up by philipps who is the owner of the Compact-Disc standard. All others using this label are licensing this standard. Since those Copy-Protected CDs do not comply with this standard, Philipps sees a patent-violation in this.
