[swinog] vServers and dedicated servers in Cyprus

2018-08-29 Diskussionsfäden WolfSec-Support
Hello,

we are looking for a project for good, reliable servers in Cyprus.

Can be IaaS or Linux - both from interest.

Has anyone good expierience with any provider there ?
Via Internet you can find only very pricy or bad connected ones.
For sure I dive deeper - but any help appreciated.

Any hint is welchome,

Cheers
Steph

Besten Dank.

The vpn needs to run on v4
Its not site 2 site in this case.

As all know it is still rare to get v6 access everywhere

But in general it would be better if an ISP informs the customer BEFORE
such a change.

To implement CGN without making sure the customer gets a notice was simply
the root of the problem

Well you are wrong. No ipsec.

With CGN outbound for sure no prob.
But inbound due to CG NAT impossible.

Well i only suspecting your try to use ipsec, wich is a crazy vpn solution.
I would sugest to evaluate ssl based vpn in the future which naturally do
not run into nat problems.

Just my five cents

SOLVED:

many thanks to all @ swisscom who helped me

issue solved.

for propperness:

it was CG NAT, not ds-lite

(I had a week ago an issue with UPC and ds-lite; so was my fault)

now back to dual stack and all works :)

have a nice weekend,
cheers

[swinog] background migration of swisscom connection from IPv4 native to v6 + DS-Lite

2017-10-27 Diskussionsfäden WolfSec-Support
Hello,

could be someone from swisscom so kind and contact me offlist via email
please.

our customer has a swisscom dsl connection and last week they changed these
to v6.
he already tried 3 times via swisscom helpdesk without success.
the first level seems to have no idea about ds lite and v6... ;-/

we want to go back to v4 native.
in customer center we have deactivated v6 - but it is still online via v6
and ds-lite

we did all what was explained:
- switchoff modem for an hour
- reboot 3 times router etc

effectively now the vpn is for sure not working via ds lite and carrier
grade NAT

thanks in advance

Stephan

[swinog] vServers in UAE / e.g. Dubai with good connectivity.

2017-09-12 Diskussionsfäden WolfSec-Support
Hello all,

may a bit offtopic ;)

But may someone has experience with servers in Dubai / UAE ?
Looks like internet connectivity is there one of the most critical and
expensive parts

I did some tests and they route via RFC1918, tunnels etc. with wors
latency, eg:
...
 5 172-0-64-1.lightspeed.miamfl.sbcglobal.net (172.0.64.1) 3.874 ms
3.845 ms 3.863 ms

 8 10.100.37.81 (10.100.37.81) 159.221 ms 159.143 ms 159.148 ms
 9 10.44.153.34 (10.44.153.34) 152.857 ms 152.811 ms 152.820 ms
10 10.44.153.33 (10.44.153.33) 159.161 ms 159.355 ms 159.520 ms
11 172.16.216.74 (172.16.216.74) 161.023 ms 160.693 ms 160.532 ms
12 213.132.54.50 (213.132.54.50) 150.879 ms 150.939 ms 150.747 ms
13 213.132.50.101 (213.132.50.101) 150.306 ms 154.736 ms 154.666 ms
14 * * *

Usecases are Mail / smarthost (easy)
and Win Terminalservers for lokal employees.

Any hints are welcome - tnx in advance,

[swinog] IaaS in Switzerland dualstacked & BGP for all x86/amd64 workloads

2017-03-28 Diskussionsfäden WolfSec-Support
Hello all,

we are looking for an IaaS provider, who can offer:

- dualstack IPv4 and IPv6
- BGP setup to 2 routers (2 VM's on your infra / IaaS platform)
- vlans / "private LANs" (where we have own prefixes / PA's via upper
routers)
- able to run not only Linux workloads / prepared images
- able to install VM's via ISO-Images (also Win/xBSD's) (normally only
64bit)
- offers some "HA" - e.g. automatic start of VM on other node in case of
crashed hypervisor / server etc

- we want to announce v6 prefixes as well as v4/24 prefixes (only a few)

great but not musthave:
- based on opensource platform (backend or completely)
- peers with SwissIX

any hints / offers we are glad to reveice :-)

Cheers

I don't KNOW anything about it, but I am experiencing the same here, since
about one hour. Some sites respond well, others not or only very shaky or
partial.

DNS query time between 500-700ms.

I particularly like how bluewin is capable of presenting me a NICE and
easy-to-find status page of their service - NOT. stone age or what?

Umbi

Anybody knows something about big DNS troubles with Bluewin ADSL/VDSL?

No: Bluewin-DNS is fine for me. But i had some ADSL problems on 2-3. Jan:
I had about ~30% packet loss with any (?) gateway in 195.186.252.0/24.

Re-Connecting until i got a gateway in the 253-range fixed the problem
for me
