Ok, I can search this thread, but I remember well:
No changes in the current catholic v11n, but new proposition, what I
did. And it is not French v11n but new Catholics (from French, Italian,
Lithuanian, Lingala and Kikongo catholic translations) because the
currents have some issues.
David made some correction in my v11n in the git repo. It is ready.

Re: [sword-devel] Announcing release 1.8.0

2017-12-28 Thread Troy A. Griffitts
Hi Cyrille,

First, I want to express my gratitude for you research, input, and contribution
with this and so much more here over the years.

Regarding your v11ns, I am no expert in French v11n and as Greg pointed out,
the thread where you submitted them seemed still to have outstanding issues. We
need to avoid changing v11n schemes after a release, when modules may have been
created against them.

I would suggest the same as Greg... reply to the thread which was discussing
these new v11n schemes to freshen the topic and see what objections others may
have.

No, you're being clear. But you'll need to go back to the thread where you
submitted your versifications to see why they have not been added to the
code base yet. That is not a decision I can make - it needs to be made by
someone with the permissions to maintain that portion of the code. I don't
keep track of what is in the versification schemes, nor do I have the
ability to manage what is there. That's a specialized skill and knowledge
that others maintain.

Until it gets approved by someone with that responsibility and added to
Subversion, it won't be part of any release. I am authorized to release the
code that is present, not to change or update what code is in the engine.

The distro can update just what you propose (in this example the 1.8
release)... If the v11n are not in the 1.8, the distro can't update it
with it, it will not with the new v11n. I'm not sure to be understandable ?

You do understand correctly. However, I am not aware of any doubt end
developers who are active in package maintenance in Debian or Ubuntu. It's
a very different skill set. I'm not even aware of any who use those distros
as their main system.

You'll need to contact someone with those skills and the approval necessary
to create those packages.

Ubuntu LTS (18.04). Is it so difficult to add it yet?

I do not control what gets committed to Subversion. Troy will need to be
your contact for getting the versification schemes in. I'm only in charge
of releasing what is in there.

And I have no control over distro packaging for Ubuntu or Debian. You will
need to contact a contributor for those distributions.

Re: [sword-devel] Announcing release 1.8.0

2017-12-28 Thread Tom Sullivan

Y'all:

Along the same lines as Cyrille's remarks:

This is a humble (recognizing that everybody is a volunteer and busy)
request to all front-end publishers to publish updates and (at least)
bug fixes in updated packages to both stable (currently Stretch) and
testing (currently Buster) versions of Debian and its derivatives.
Backports would also be acceptable.

Users of stable versions of operating systems should not have to wait
years for bug fixes, especially when the new version will have its own
set of bugs.

[sword-devel] Announcing release 1.8.0

2017-12-23 Thread Greg Hellings
I would like to take this chance to announce the immediate availability of
SWORD release 1.8.0.

I know this release has been a long time in coming, but the long time comes
with lots of benefits for users, developers, and maintainers. The benefits
to users and developers are mentioned elsewhere, throughout the code and
other places. The main benefit to maintainers is that, now, there are
automated tests in place and the release process is now automated. This
means that future releases on that 1.8 branch can be easily executed
whenever needed.

Have a Merry Christmas, everyone! And keep your eyes open for a 1.8.1 in
the not too distant future to fix up buildings in the binding code.
Otherwise, you can get the code you're looking for below:
