Re: [sword-devel] Audio Bibles

2013-10-21 Thread Israel
I just discovered AndBible has a TTS feature, and it is (unfortunately)
not as good as Hison's example from iOS. This could simply be my old
Phone has an old version of Android, and thus, the TTS, or of course iOS
has spent a lot of time/money developing the Siri TTS. Is the developer
form AndBible on this list? If so did you use a built in text to
speech, or something auxiliary? And also if you are on this list THANK
YOU! So many people are thankful for having an offline Bible, that is
fully searchable, (and all the other wonderful SWORD features we are so
privileged with), myself included!

And thank you for making the text zoom-able, as well.

Japanese audio bible based on DAISY3
http://bible.salterrae.net/kougo/daisy/

To play these bibles,
1. download a DAISY player such as AMIS3 from
   http://www.daisy.org/amis/download
   and install it.
2. download zip archived files from the site above.
   http://bible.salterrae.net/kougo/daisy/
   (e.g. http://bible.salterrae.net/kougo/daisy/kougo_62.zip for JOHN1)
3. unzip them.
4. run the player and then open the ncc.html file in the unzipped
   directory.

Re: [sword-devel] Audio Bibles

2013-10-21 Thread David Haslam
And Bible uses the built in TTS in the Android device
(i.e. if the device firmware was compiled with Google's TTS engine to begin
with).

If the user installs the IVONA TTS Engine and a suitable voice,
and configures the device settings to use that instead of the default TTS,
then And Bible will use the current voice from that.

NB. There are some Android devices in which the firmware does not include a
TTS engine.
For some or all of these products, to install Ivona may be of no avail,
because the user settings do not have a section which would enable it to be
selected.

And yes - And Bible's developer Martin Denham) is a member of sword-devel.
But see also the mailing list called mobile-devel.

[sword-devel] Audio Bibles

2013-10-14 Thread Israel
Hi, I e-mailed the Bible Time list about this, but I thought I would
e-mail this list as well.
Is there support for Audio Bibles built into SWORD? Are there any audio
Bibles hosted already? If there aren't any would it be ok to package
some to include in the repos, assuming Audio integration could be
included in most SWORD programs.
I am specifically working on an Ubuntu Touch Bible app, and would like
to have an offline Audio Bible, as Faith comes by hearing. It would be
great to include this functionality. Of course if crosswire wont host
this, I suppose I might get a repo going somewhere.

The audio Bibles I have in mind are of course public domain, namely
librivox.org. Of course they contain an intro about librivox and are
not in verse by verse sections. There is also a public domain KJV bible
read by firemen (though I can't remember where I found that one...
something like firefighters.org... not sure though)

Anyhow thanks for any pointers you can give (especially specific header
files if they exist)

May the LORD Jesus Christ continue to bless all of you for your precious
work!

There is a lot of linked audiocontent available for Xulsword/mkbible. There has
also been extensive discussion on this.list on the best way for integrating
audio content. Osis allows for that, as do our modules, but so far few have
used this.

Can you provide a link to any sort of API, or way to include this
existing content through OSIS (or just point me to the correct header
files so I can look for myself).

Thanks so much for the quick response!!
