Re: [sword-devel] Song of Solomon missing from ChiNCVt
Many of the unresolved module issues in our tracker were created before the default assignee ceased all his CrossWire acitivities. We were left in the lurch because of this, and it's not an easy task for other hard-pressed volunteers to pick things up from where he left off. As a result, a lot of module issues have fallen by the wayside. Lamentable, but understandable. Could we get update on the current status of these modules? There should be some tool to file tickets blocking this one for all individual modules which need an attention. * http://www.crosswire.org/tracker/browse/MOD-289 ... "A new module version 2.0 has been made and has been tested in both Xiphos 3.2.2 and PocketSword 1.4.6 The module, together with updated USFM files and a valid OSIS XML file has been sent to Peter to be uploaded to our main repo." That's 2014-12-13 ... what is the current status? * many many tickets like http://www.crosswire.org/tracker/browse/MOD-293, http://www.crosswire.org/tracker/browse/MOD-287 and many others ... if we had sources for our modules available in some VCS, volunteers could help fixing small issues like this (with possible approval before publishing, some of these are just rebuilds with current tools). We don’t have publicly available sources, and we don’t have maintainers of individual modules, so the result is that nobody does anything (because few people who has access to modules are completely overwhelmed, I guess). Also, it should be deduplicated with another requests for rebuild of some modules (e.g., http://www.crosswire.org/tracker/browse/MOD-166, http://www.crosswire.org/tracker/browse/MOD-264 and many others). * looking at http://www.crosswire.org/tracker/browse/MOD-248 we should continue working on using automated processing of the available open sources (although with MHCC the sitaution is really silly … CCEL created with help of volunteers complete edition, only to hide the ThML sources behind the paywall, so now https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Author:Matthew_Henry have to do whole work again; grrr). I have CzeBKR done from WikiSource sources, but I believe the process should continue whenever possible. * Also, it may be worthy of consideration, whether we shouldn't switch to one subcomponent (https://blogs.atlassian.com/2013/11/organize-jira-issues-subcomponents/) per module, so that we could for example collect all MHCC tickets in one place and somebody updating the module could see all tickets she should deal with. Re: [sword-devel] Song of Solomon missing from ChiNCVt
Aside: Something I made a few weeks ago alerted me immediately to the badly formed escaped RTF tags. I'd created a Syntax Highlighter Language file for Notepad++ called CONF for viewing module conf files. The delinquent tags showed the numbers in a different colour because of the hyphen/minus separator. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ouyf74gzh5ie2lh/Screenshot%202016-03-09%2009.24.46.png?dl=0 They show up like a sore thumb. btw. I can share the CONF language file with other users if there's any demand. User defined languages can be readily exported and imported. Re: [sword-devel] Song of Solomon missing from ChiNCVt
Yes I agree - converting from Simplified to Traditional isn't straightforward. Even with a good heuristic algorithm that takes context into account, the results would need checking by a fluent reader of Traditional Chinese. BabelPad has conversion options for both directions. In past times, I have discussed the problem with Andrew West (the BabelPad developer). Surely no front-end can display improperly formed escaped RTF tags? 25.7% of the tags are bad. Re: [sword-devel] Song of Solomon missing from ChiNCVt
Regarding the escaped RTF tags. The SWORD Project for Windows (BibleCS) and JSword frontends properly display the RTF. However, if it is replaced with UTF-8, then BibleCS shows ugliness. We have a good number of sources with UTF-8 in the About field, that BibleCS does not handle properly. I think we should convert the About to UTF-8. Re: [sword-devel] Song of Solomon missing from ChiNCVt
I have source from the publisher for the ChiNCVt that includes Song of Solomon, BUT I need to make some utf-8 encoding corrections to it, first. Converting from traditional to simplified script is straight forward. The reverse is not, because there are multiple cases where two ideographs from the traditional script map to one in the simplified script. I hope to rebuild once the corrections mentioned above are made... On 03/08/2016 10:30 AM, David Haslam wrote: I just installed both modules ChiNCVt and ChiNCVs (in response to Martin's email).
