Re: [sword-devel] Bible in a year audio

2023-04-06 Thread bf
Hi Troy,

One thing I’ve done in the past was to put a small dot by the book
listed in the index when I completed that book. It let me see quickly what I
haven’t read. It takes me more than a year to read all the way through. Now I
have an app on an Android and read straight through the Bible. I book mark
where to start each time. The app also can read the text aloud. This works for
me as I can pick it up whenever.

I think about you often and appreciate the help you’ve given over
the years.

Hey guys. Do any of you have a strategy for reading the Bible in a year.

And also for listening to the daily reading?

I have a friend asking for an app which allows him to listen to the Bible in a
year.

He said that he previously had an app which each day gave an OT passage, a
Psalm, and an NT passage. But this year he says it's different and he doesn't
like it.

Curious if we have any solutions for him.

Troy

I've used M'Cheyne's through a RSS feed for years to listen to it via audio
(https://subscribe.esv.org/rss/one-year-tract/). I think there are other bible
plans you can find, but I couldn't find a webpage that listed them all to
together. It's usually 8-15 minutes (depending on the passage) each day.

This year, I'm reading through the M'Cheyne with the NASB1995, and I've been
using this site to send me the daily reading

https://bibleplan.org/plans/mcheyne/#nasb1995. It then sends me links to the
passage via email. For instance, today's has:

Leviticus 4
<https://bibleplan.org/read?s=de3c1-385&srch=Leviticus+4&v=nasb1995>

Psalm 1-2 <https://bibleplan.org/read?s=de3c1-385&srch=Psalm+1-2&v=nasb1995>

Proverbs 19
<https://bibleplan.org/read?s=de3c1-385&srch=Proverbs+19&v=nasb1995>

Colossians 2
<https://bibleplan.org/read?s=de3c1-385&srch=Colossians+2&v=nasb1995>

You can read more about Robert Murray M’Cheyne (1813-43) at

https://mcheyne.info/

cf. My original website with pages on M’Cheyne was started in January 1996 but
closed in 2011 when Sky shutdown UK Online. The above site replaced it.
The old one still can be found on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

2023-03-23 Thread Peter von Kaehne
We have a bunch of daily devotionals which are in essence Bible reading plans.

And several of our front ends have voice

AndBible is the best on Android on that particular front. I would think bishop
on Android could easily do the same (feeding text into Android voice engine)

Sent from my phone. Please forgive misspellings and weird “corrections”

I just did a search (in duckduckgo, not google) for "daily audio bible"
which turned up a whole screenful of hits. You might find something there.

I make use of the MCheyne daily reading plan module which can be downloaded
from the Xiphos repository.

Learn more about its origins and author by visiting https://mcheyne.info/

I’m not aware of an audio version.
