[symfony-users] Re: different configuration between local and live machines

2007-10-12 Thread Dan Grossman

Create different environments for each, and if you can't be bothered to
switch a variable indicating which environment you're using somewhere
between the two servers, write a snippet to detect it from the URL/hostname.

Maybe your code can check if debug mode is switched on and change
behavior accordingly?

For config files, (like say, database connections) I have a
databases.yml.production file. My deployment script exports from svn,
overwrites databases.yml with the .production file during deployment.

Im currently working on using Capistrano2 to deploy our apps...

[symfony-users] Form in Prototype Window

2007-10-12 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

Can someone give me an example of page (nb : original page) mading a
form in a Prototype Window.
The form submiting execute an action which returns a JSON response.

Finally, this JSON response is catched by the original page in order
to update itself.

I just don't know how to make this, i tried a lot, but nothing works !

[symfony-users] different configuration between local and live machines

2007-10-12 Thread Jonathan Bryan

As well as the database settings, I have a number of other settings that
need to change depending on whether they are on the live server or my
local development machine. (for instance, for turning distant analytics
on/off)

I can't find any recommended way of doing this in the symfony docs.

It must be a common problem, so I wonder if I'm missing something obvious??

Never mind - we attacked the problem from the other side: we now have
separate web folders for each application that is completely separate
from the application code.

Hi!

Did you have a look at the chapter

http://www.symfony-project.com/book/1_0/11-Ajax-Integration

in the Symfony book? In my opinion, everything concering Symfony's
Ajax capabilities is explained there.

Hey, I'd be interesting in helping. I've recently started coding with

You have to change the .htaccess file. You will see the reference to
index.php there and change it to your liking.

[symfony-users] Rename front controller?

2007-10-12 Thread Eno

Is it possible to rename the default front controller for an
application from index.php to another name (like abc.php) ?
If it is, what configuration changes need to be made to get this
working?

(We want to have multiple applications inside the same tree since we
are replacing parts of an existing site).

[symfony-users] Re: How extend a class from a plugin

2007-10-12 Thread Andreas Hucks

Oops, was on the wrong page there.

Please ignore my last post ;)

1) If you mean the sfGuardSecurityUser class;
- Extend sfGuardSecurityUser
- Set your new class as the parent class in myUser.class.php instead of
sfGuardSecurityUser

2) If you mean the sfGuardUser class - I don't understand your question
- you already have the extended stub class to add your own methods. If
you still need to extend it... just extend it.

3) If you mean "extend the user model" you can do that using a seperate
profile table, as described in the documentation.

Cheers

[symfony-users] strange issues with doctrine and views/templates

2007-10-12 Thread Matthias N.

Hi,

I have problems whenever I have to deal with Doctrine relations in
templates, for example $place->User.

As soon as I delete the user (or any other related object) the
template stops rendering at the place where I want to use $place->User
and only a very small piece of html code (I guess only the action
until the "bug") is displayed - without layout.

I wonder if other people run into that issue?

My problem is: I don't get any error - it simply fails without any
information why.. :-(
Maybe it's a problem of the usage of the output buffer?
Maybe it's a problem of the output escaper who may have problems with
Doctrine objects?

Regards,
Matthias
