The way symfony behaves regarding database operations is exactly the same, whether you activate your scripts with AJAX or a standard (synchronous) request. If you're looking for a tutorial about implementing AJAX itself in symfony, you should check the Jobeet tutorial as a starting point : http://www.symfony-project.org/jobeet/1_4/Doctrine/en/18
