Re: [Synalist] SynaSer working some on WinCE

A few notes I forgot to include in the readme...

Note that in WinCE the COM port name must include ":" on the end:
   ser.Connect( 'COM1:');

Also note that this routine doesn't work:
   GetSerialPortNames

[Synalist] SynaSer working some on WinCE

2010-11-06 Thread Paul Breneman
A year ago I worked on fpGUI and got it supporting WinCE again. I just
did something similar for SynaSer. I'm not the smartest fellow and have
limited time, but I hope others can now add additional WinCE
improvements to SynaSer just like others did to fpGUI after I got things
started.  :)

Since Feb-2009 TurboControl has had three minimal distributions of
Free Pascal and SynaSer on this page:
   http://www.turbocontrol.com/simpleserial.htm

I haven't added it to that web page yet, but here is the first cut of a
2.8 MB zip that works for me to send and receive serial data on WinCE
using SynaSer:
http://www.turbocontrol.com/SimpleSerial-fpGUI-fpc-2.4.0-arm-wince-110610.zip

If any of the Synapse SynaSer experts on this list have a WinCE device
and want to help test and improve the SynaSer WinCE support that would
be very much appreciated.

In the USA in September the CVS pharmacy chain sold some WinCE netbooks
for $100 so there seems to be more and more inexpensive testing devices
available (if a USB-serial FTDI adapter would work).  I don't think I'd
want to use that $100 netbook for anything other than testing. :)

I'm actually using a Pharos PDA that has a real RS-232 port...
