[Synfig-devl] [ synfig-Bugs-1776156 ] region and outline position ducks aren't linked

Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: dooglus (dooglus) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: region and outline position ducks aren't linked Initial Comment: If I use the bline tool to draw a shape, and get both a region and an outline created, the outline and the bline are linked, so that moving any of the outline's verticies, tangents, etc. will also move the region's, and vice versa. That's a good thing. However, the green 'position' ducks aren't linked, so grabbing the green duck and moving it will result in the region and the outline becoming separated. It's possible to manually link the two green position ducks, but shouldn't that be done automatically? -- Comment By: PXEGeek (pxegeek) Date: 2007-08-24 22:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1763308 Originator: NO I'd vote to make linking the green position ducks default bahaviour. This is something I've run into repeatedly and has driven me crazy. Create region & outline, move region, curse, undo, link together, move both. Saving 4 steps makes PXEGeek happy :) -- Comment By: PXEGeek (pxegeek) Date: 2007-08-24 22:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1763308 Originator: NO I'd vote to make linking the green position ducks default bahaviour. [Synfig-devl] [ synfig-Feature Requests-1781331 ] Use shift key to manipulate ducks
Feature Requests item #1781331, was opened at 2007-08-24 11:21 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=757419&aid=1781331&group_id=144022 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: User interface Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Kumeelyun (kumeelyun) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Use shift key to manipulate ducks Initial Comment: I propose a change to the bline tool that I feel would make it easier to create shapes. I refer to how Inkscape's node tool works. When drawing a shape, it is possible, like your tool, to drag out tangents to create a curve. In Inkscape, however, it's possible to hold down the shift key, which automatically splits the tangents and create an angle. This is even possible with a completed shape, I find this speeds up the process of creating a shape, especially when I already have a shape in mind. I feel this would be more intuitive than having to go back and right-click and selecting "split tangents" on a duck to change it to what was wanted in the first place. -- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=757419&aid=1781331&group_id=144022 - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Thanks for the comprehensive reply pabs, I think all that's understood. We'll include the source files, installer, GTK+ and GTKmm on the disc, along with a readme which links to the relevant web pages. The permission for you to distribute synfig or any other GPLed software is given by the GPL itself. To be sure about what you need to do, have your lawyer read the GPLv2 and advise you, my understanding is that distributing source code along with the binaries is enough (not legal advice, I'm not a lawyer and so on)... I'm assuming you want to distribute Windows binaries on the CD. Please note that for that to be useful, you'd need to distribute GTKmm binaries too, or point people at the GTKmm download site. The GTKmm installer can auto-download a GTK installer, or you can include that on the CD too. I think the best way for you to satisfy all licences is simply to distribute the source code on the CD too, perhaps in a separate directory. I'd suggest that such a directory should contain a README file that links to these two pages: http://wiki.synfig.com/Windows_build_instructions http://wiki.synfig.com/Mingw_installation In the source code directory, you'd need etl, synfig, synfigstudio and probably openexr, gtk, gtkmm and the gtk dependencies. GTK/GTKmm, openexr and so on are under less restrictive licences than the GPL, so you may not need to distribute some of them in source form. BTW, if there will be any printed mention of synfig, please write that we need developers, we are a small community so far and also that people should join the IRC channel for support and post bugs to the tracker. Thanks for your interest in synfig and for promoting it like this! Be sure to distribute version 0.61.06, since that is the latest and most stable.
