We're going to watch the running in Sydney because we are running fans but
the average viewer needs some hype. I'm just turning 23 and only started
following the sport in about 1993 or 1994, I remember watching the 1988 100m
final when I was 11 years old because Canada had a chance in winning gold.
Everybody I know watched the race, but I don't think I even tuned in to
watch the final in 1992 because it wasn't an "event" as far as I was
concerned. Even though Bruny finished fourth (which is a placing that
Canadians are proud of) it was a surprise to most non-followers of the sport
that we even had somebody in the final. I know that everybody on this list
is going to watch as much of the games as possible but as far as the average
viewer in Canada, I believe they will stick to the stronger medal
possabilities of the 100m(M), 4*100m(M), HJ(M) and 1500(M&W).
