RE: t-and-f: FL 3A State Meet Highlights

2005-05-07 Thread Geoff Pietsch
Ricky provides his usual great summary, but, as an oldtimer, I have to
keep him honest: Ricky, don't forget to note when the old yard records are
superior to the new metric performances. Kelly Parrish's 10:31.03 is indeed
faster than Jenny Barringer's record, but in 1981 Carla Dolder of
Gainesville (Ricky's home town) ran 10:33.5 for 2 miles in the State meet
which converts to 10:29.9 as I figure it (.9942 conversion).

I haven't forgotten.
Dodler is on all-time list that John Sullivan posted once and to which I
have kept updating. Not that Sully hasn't. He has way more info than I and
doesn't need any help.
Dodler also ran a fast mile on that day too. 4:54 and some change which
converts to 4:53.1 which puts her at #9.
Parrish stands #6 with her 4:49.19 from NIN this past March and also has a
superior 3200m/2mile time from Arcadia 10:24.01/10:27.65.
She also has one year remaining and based on her training, she should be
dipping below those times in upcoming post season meets.
Modern day records and old records tends to get confusing at times.
