Canal is just man-made channel for water and existence of ones without flow is possible. I encountered some (between lakes). About flow_direction=none, then you water stream/canal/pipe is not a water stream/pipe/canal (change the primary tag). The oneway=yes tag is an access restriction, ie which direction you are legally allowed to travel along that way. Whereas the flow is what direction the water is physically moving. So it makes sense to use separate tags for these. A river may be flowing downstream, but it is usually legal to travel by boat in the opposite direction. Or a canal has no flow, but boats can travel in either direction. Craig ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

[Tagging] Spelling: vending=news_papers
I was fixing some stuff with http://keepright.at/ when I found an error showing a wrong spelling vending=newspapers and the right tag was vending=news_papers. Which confused me, because I was pretty sure that's the spelling I learned in English class and google also confirmed that. Checking with taginfo and the German wiki that's actually what it states and what is used, the spelling was only corrected in the English Wiki. (Most of the nodes are in Germany) So what now? News papers just seems completely wrong. I guess a mass edit is not really possible in OSM. Also how does keepright do this? Is there a preset list or algorithm checking for similar tags with low usage? __ openstreetmap.org/user/AndiG88 wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:AndiG88 ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
