Indeed. And pond arrived in Debian experimental about three months ago.

Thanks for the link, sycamoreone.

Answer from Jacob: https://twitter.com/ioerror/status/676457009915535360 :)

betraysterminologies88, the fact that some people like it is good news.
I also do like pond & its concepts. But that's not the point :)
We (as in "we, the people") need maintained software which has been at
least vaguely audited.

Cheers!

Can you please elaborate? Is this about "Hashsum mismatch" errors,
or anything else?

The attached build log seems to be the result of building from the
master branch. This is not supported, please retry from stable or
devel instead.

Also, errors like "W: There is no public key available for the
following key IDs: 9D6D8F6BC857C906" are unknown to me, and make me
wonder what's special in your build environment. Did you modify the
source tree before building? Are you doing builds from an unclean
config tree?

Indeed, the build process is not idempotent and must be run from
a *clean* configuration tree each time. Sorry about that!

Cheers,

[Tails-dev] Tails as a Qubes VM

2015-12-15 Thread sp4rk
I was trying to get Tails running on Qubes. I used the most recent qubes live
cd and afterwards added tails (1.7) as a HVM virtual machine. It booted
without problems but when the gui wants to start only a blinking icon is
visible and the rest of the screen is black. I'm not sure if this is a tails
or qubes issue. A debian jessie xfce live cd worked without problems as well
as kali linux. Knoppix didn't go far beyond the boot screen and a ghost bsd
iso booted into the gui, though the mouse did not work. Any ideas what could
be the problem with tails or what one could do to troubleshoot the problem?
Is there some possibility to not start the gui and just boot to the terminal?

This is likely the same bug as that one:
https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/1343

If you continue testing, we greatly appreciate a report back, here or on
the QubesOS bugtracker. Thanks!

I would suggest that you try with a Jessie-based Tails nightly build:

http://nightly.tails.boum.org/build_Tails_ISO_feature-jessie/builds/lastSuccessfulBuild/archive/build-artifacts/

Obviously, since this is not a stable release, do so only for testing
purposes. Please report your results back here!
