Is this a known bug that has not been fixed or something unique to ff?

RE: Checking Progress of Downloads

2015-03-16 Thread David Loux via Talk
Hi List,

I have a problem, and I believe that it has everything to do with WE 9.1.
I'm also using Win 7, 32 bit.

Earlier today, I rebooted my Dell Laptop, and when I opened Outlook,
(V2007), I got an error message whereby I was asked if I wanted to open
Outlook in safe mode. I said no and that's about all she wrote!

When I now open Outlook, I can see, and arrow through the list of emails,
but when I open an email, I cannot get the message field to read. I can tab
and back tab through the header info, but not the message.

I can hear what I am currently typing, but I can't read or review my
message.

I thought that the original error message, before asking me about safe mode,
had something to do with an app failing. When I try to reinstall the
Outlook Enhanced app, I immediately get an error message saying I need a
live connection, and I should check my internet connection or my router
settings. They are all just fine. Since being blocked from doing anything
with WE, I can get to the web, and successfully downloaded a BARD book.

This seems to be a problem exclusive to WE and Outlook. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

RE: Google Docs

2015-03-16 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
Martin,
Yes, Window-Eyes supports Google Docs in Internet Explorer 11. With that being
said, please keep in mind that there are other factors involved here that might
impact your experience using Google Docs in this browser. Each web browser
implements support for HTML5 and ARIA markup differently. Therefore, the
information Internet Explorer and Firefox exposes to Window-Eyes might be
different even when accessing the same content on the same page. Most people in
the accessibility industry will agree that Firefox currently offers a more
robust and accurate experience for screen reader users accessing web
applications or web pages that use HTML5 and ARIA. It seems likely that
Internet Explorer will continue to improve and maybe at some point you will
have the same experience in both browsers.

Marc

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 and WE 9.1 with a set file renamed from default.set.

In Active Directory, the cursoring up or down reads the previous container when
in the first 3 branches. This also happens when navigating by typing the first
letter of the container. The settings for the up and down arrows are set to
read line. I have tried to change to read something else, but that doesn't
help. An example would be: we have departments like Public Health and Public
Works. If I am on Public Health and press the down arrow to Public Works, WE
says Public Health when it should say Public Works.
Likewise, when I arrow back up to Public Health, WE says Public Works. The
Windows Explorer or any other tree views do not behave like this.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get these arrow keys or typing by
first letter to read correctly?

Thanks,

David Ayers

Re: bluetooth issue.

2015-03-16 Thread Marvin Commerford via Talk
Hi. Another thing to try is to activate the backup synthesizer. You
can do this without speech with the following key strokes.

1. ctrl-backslash to go to the WE control panel.
2. alt-h for the help menu.
3. s for speech and braille recovery
4. a for activate backup synthesizer.
I can't try this with a bluetooth dongle because I don't have one. The
only possible problem could be that Windows forces the bluetooth dongle
to be the default sound card. If this happens the only way to use this
thing is to pair it with headphones or a speaker. Good luck.

If so, you would be able to hear Window-Eyes through those while you go into

2015-03-16 Thread Kevin Huber via Talk
Hi Rick:
I don't know how to fix the problem, but I know of a way to go back to
Window-eyes 8.4, but it is a long way and if anyone on this list has a
shorter method, I would like to know about it as well.

1. uninstall Window-eyes.
2. Find your cd with the latest version and install Window-eyes from that.
3. If you have kept the upgrades that you have downloaded and
installed in order to get to 8.4, insttall these upgrades in
succession.

I had to do this several weeks ago when my Window-eyes 9 beta turned
into a demo. I could not find my 8.0 disk so I had to install 7.5. I
installed the upgrades that I had and now I am up to 8.3, until I
order version 9.1.

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 and WE 9.1 with a set file renamed from default.set.

In Active Directory, the cursoring up or down reads the previous container
when in the first 3 branches. This also happens when navigating by typing
the first letter of the container. The settings for the up and down arrows
are set to read line. I have tried to change to read something else, but
that doesn't help. An example would be: we have departments like Public
Health and Public Works. If I am on Public Health and press the down arrow
to Public Works, WE says Public Health when it should say Public Works.
Likewise, when I arrow back up to Public Health, WE says Public Works. The
Windows Explorer or any other tree views do not behave like this.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get these arrow keys or typing
by first letter to read correctly?

Thanks,

David Ayers

Hi Reeva
Actually you can use Pandora very well via an App that makes it accessable
for us. It's called Hope. it's not a free thing, but it's worth the small
amount IMO.
You can get it at this link.
www.q-continuum.net/hope/
There is a demo version as well, but as cheap as the program is it's well
worth it. It works with all the screenreaders as well, I believe.
I don't know why Hope gets lost among folks looking for access to streaming
services.
It would be great if we could get something like it for Spotify.

Martin,
Yes, Window-Eyes supports Google Docs in Internet Explorer 11. With that
being said, please keep in mind that there are other factors involved here
that might impact your experience using Google Docs in this browser. Each
web browser implements support for HTML5 and ARIA markup differently.
Therefore, the information Internet Explorer and Firefox exposes to
Window-Eyes might be different even when accessing the same content on the
same page. Most people in the accessibility industry will agree that
Firefox currently offers a more robust and accurate experience for screen
reader users accessing web applications or web pages that use HTML5 and
ARIA. It seems likely that Internet Explorer will continue to improve and
maybe at some point you will have the same experience in both browsers.

Marc

Hi all

I have Window-Eyes9.1, but I think I have experienced the differences
between these browsers under previous versions of Window-Eyes.
If I select a previously broadcast programme via
bbc.co.uk
Internet Explorer shows me a Listen with pop out player link, which
Firefox does not.
Is this true for me alone, or is this a general problem, and can it be
fixed?
I notice other controls on other sites, particularly buttons, which IE
shows and Firefox does not.
The apparent inaccessibility of the pop out player with Firefox is a
particular problem because its controls work really well once selected.
I would prefer Firefox to be my default browser if possible, but the
browser seems determined to make itself inaccessible in annoying ways,
while trumpeting its commitment to accessibility.
Why does Firefox fail to recognise some of the controls with which IE
seems to have no problem?

music services with window eyes

2015-03-16 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi

spotify works quite well with window eyes now. Now it has a web
interface. I haven't figured out how to share music and make playlists.
Nor can I tell what song is currently playing. I also don't know how to
go and buy the song directly. But I can using window eyes 9.1 search for
and play individual tracks and albums. I can move through tracks and
fast forward and rewind and turn up and down the volume as well. Spotify
works better with window eyes 9.1 than it does with NVDA. window eyes
yes, NVDA no. But in spotify the review cursor mouse pointer and move by
clip do not seem to work. I do not know why this is.

Hi Rod,

Thanks, this does work, but it would be more convenient if a specific hotkey
would provide just the download progress.

As I said before, I thought control insert b should do this, but at least on my
computer, it doesn't.

Check boxes

2015-03-16 Thread Alan Siman via Talk
Using ff latest version with we9.1 and having issues with check boxes.
The space bar will check the box but we reads it as checked some times
and not others in the same survey. Using the arrow key to go away from
the box and then going back we reads the box correctly as either checked
or not checked.

Is this a known bug that has not been fixed or something unique to ff?

Hi David,

Have you tried changing the Cursor delay under the Cursor Keys node, expand
this, arrow to Options, and tab to Cursor Delay.
You should probably change the Scope to Program, or else it would be Global,
and this isn't required in your case.

I change the trigger delay to the highest setting of 99. Now the incorrect
reading is spiratic. It will say the right item then miss the next 2 or 3,
then be correct on the 4th. I tried cursoring down with a pause between
each key press, thinking WE needs to finish reading the item before the next
one, but that didn't change the result.

Subject: Cursoring in Active Directory /Tree

Thanks,

David Ayers
