2015-07-04 Thread Chip Orange via Talk
Also, while still in your folder showing the list of messages where you see
the invite, instead of opening the invite in Outlook you can right click it
(use the applications key or shift-f10) and choose accept from the context
menu; it has an accelerator key of c, which I have to press twice to get to
it in my Outlook 2010).

This doesn't give you a chance to see about conflicts or other warnings in the
notification bar, but if you happen to know there aren't going to be any, it's
the quickest way to accept an invite.

At least I think it’s the Message tab, it’s whatever one is highlighted when
you press alt from within an open message.

Sometimes I wonder if it isn't easier just to manually type the email
addresses you want. By the time you arrow down and hit enter, you can
just as easily type an email address and never have to worry if you're
sending an email to the wrong recipient. Yeah I know, that's impractical.

Hi Thomas,

If I press down arrow, I get the next address, and pressing down arrow reads
the next in the list, and so on.
Finally, when I find the one I want, I press Enter, and it's the one which
is selected, and then I can tab to the next field.
Oh, I could also press a comma or a semi-colon, in order to address the
message to multiple recipients, and the above selection procedure works for
this next address as well.
I do think this method of selecting recipients works only if one has the
proper settings in the AutoComplete app, which is installed by default.
I won't get into those settings here, but let me know if you would like me
to explore my settings for you.
I think I may have changed mine, but I can't remember.

Any

Positive First Impressions of Windows 10

2015-07-04 Thread Vaughan Dodd via Talk
Hi all.

I installed the latest Windows 10 preview yesterday.

After being reminded by list members of the need to uninstall Window-Eyes,
and relying on Narrator, the install, in the form of an upgrade, went
smoothly. Narrator should be more helpful, but this is Microsoft afterall.

Window-Eyes version 9.1 installed successfully, but Windows would not
properly restart. A strange message came up when restarting after the
install of Window-Eyes version nine: shut down blocked. This pc has one
of those legacy reset buttons, which actually does work.

So far: all peripherals ap;pear to be working as they should - including my
Braille Edge.

Browsing with Internet Explorer verwison 11 is faster and crashes have been
fewer than with Windows 8.1. Window-Eyes and Eloquence work fine. I keep
expecting Eloquence to fail with each operating system replacement, and I'll
keep using it until it does eventualy fail. Come on AI squared: let those
of us outside of the United States purchase new voices online!

I have some difficulty reading messages in Outlook as part of Office 2010.
Frequenlty - opened emssages say loading and that is as far as I get. Not
sure that Outlook Enhance is working properly.

Sometimes, Window-Eyes seems to loose focus with task switching. Not sure
of the pattern with respect to this.
Perhaps the final release of Windows 10 will have as a surprise a properly
accessible install. If not, Microsoft deserves to be criticised for failing
to properly progress this requirement. And of course: I'm picking that
Window-Eyes will be properly ready before luanch day.

Hi:

For some weird reason, it didn't get installed. I am playing with
Windows 10 Insider Preview, so, had to uninstall and re-install
because the updater wouldn't update the build with WindowEyes running.
After a clean re-install of WindowEyes, everything worked as normal.
Strange thing. But, at least I know IE Enhance is in the installer as
a default app.

WindowEyes even works a little with the new Web browser in Windows 10,
but, it needs more work to get ready for prime time.

Still, Windows 10 can be used, more or less. I'm sure AI Squared is
working on the next update of WindowEyes since we're now less than a

2015-07-04 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Larry,

Try to kill the ienhance.exe process in taskmanager.
For me this will sometimes help.
You have to reload it after this or a restart of internet explorer is maybe
also enough.

Outlook Contacts Question

2015-07-04 Thread Karen Poulakos via Talk
I recently purchased a new computer. I'm running Windows 7, Office 10, and
Window-eyes 9.1.

I am only using outlook for mail. So, when my son transfered everything to
this computer, we created a hot key for the mail portion, and I don't know
what he did with the rest of the outlook features which I don't want to use
anyway.

I can't seem to figure out how to locate my contacts within outlook. Any
suggestions?

Is there a way to reorganize the fields within a contact, or to eliminate

How Long is a Web Page?

2015-07-04 Thread joan buzza via Talk
A similar question was asked a few weeks ago, but I never saw an answer. I
an using window eyes 9.1 and internet explorer.

When I am reading I have no idea if the page is 50 lines in length or 5000.
I went to the WE control panel, verbosity, browse. The only item I could
find that might help is new page information 2. I chose yes to the number
of lines and saved the setting. Neither shift-control-s nor
insert-control-s tells me what I want. This is true whether browse mode is
on or off.

You guys know everything. Can someone tell me how to find out the length of
a web page? It would also be nice to know where on earth I am on that page.

Hi Thomas,

I'm using Outlook 2010, and, when I place one letter in the To field, I get
the first address starting with that letter.
If I press down arrow, I get the next address, and pressing down arrow reads
the next in the list, and so on.
Finally, when I find the one I want, I press Enter, and it's the one which

Oh, I could also press a comma or a semi-colon, in order to address the
message to multiple recipients, and the above selection procedure works for
this next address as well.
I do think this method of selecting recipients works only if one has the
proper settings in the AutoComplete app, which is installed by default.
I won't get into those settings here, but let me know if you would like me

I think I may have changed mine, but I can't remember.

You know those emails you get which have a link in them which are named Open

Well, if I open an email like that, and if the Open in browser link is the
first element in the email, then the browser opens immediately, and I don't
like this.
The way around this problem is to reply to the email while still in the list

Perhaps this will work for you as well.

Did you have a full version of Window Eyes 9.1? I tried installing WE 9 from
CD but it would not install. What is a legacy reset button, is it a button
on the PC or a button in Win 10?

Subject: Positive First Impressions of Windows 10

Hi all.

I installed the latest Windows 10 preview yesterday.

After being reminded by list members of the need to uninstall Window-Eyes,
and relying on Narrator, the install, in the form of an upgrade, went
smoothly. Narrator should be more helpful, but this is Microsoft
afterall.

Window-Eyes version 9.1 installed successfully, but Windows would not
properly restart. A strange message came up when restarting after the
install of Window-Eyes version nine: shut down blocked. This pc has one
of those legacy reset buttons, which actually does work.

So far: all peripherals ap;pear to be working as they should - including
my

Braille Edge.

Browsing with Internet Explorer verwison 11 is faster and crashes have
been

fewer than with Windows 8.1. Window-Eyes and Eloquence work fine. I keep
expecting Eloquence to fail with each operating system replacement, and
I'll

keep using it until it does eventualy fail.

If not, Microsoft deserves to be criticised for
failing

to properly progress this requirement. And of course: I'm picking that
Window-Eyes will be properly ready before luanch day.

Aughan.

Re: How Long is a Web Page?

2015-07-04 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Joan,

There's no way to get the line numbers in the new browse mode that was
introduced in Window-Eyes 9.0. The only reason the option is still there
is because Adobe reader still uses old browse mode.

But I agree. I'd like to know where I am and if the article I'm reading
is 20 lines or 200. That's the difference between grabbing a cup of
coffee or not. (smile)

Regards,
Tom

When I am reading I have no idea if the page is 50 lines in length or 5000.
I went to the WE control panel, verbosity, browse. The only item I could
find that might help is new page information 2. I chose yes to the number
of lines and saved the setting. Neither shift-control-s nor
insert-control-s tells me what I want. This is true whether browse mode is
on or off.

You guys know everything. Can someone tell me how to find out the length of
a web page? It would also be nice to know where on earth I am on that page.

RE: Here's another Outlook 2013 complaint

2015-07-04 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Thomas,

I'm using Outlook 2010, and, when I place one letter in the To field, I get
the first address starting with that letter.
If I press down arrow, I get the next address, and pressing down arrow reads
the next in the list, and so on.
Finally, when I find the one I want, I press Enter, and it's the one which
is selected, and then I can tab to the next field.

Hth,

Rod

This problem exist for a while. I would say, when I am using Outlook 2007 as
well. Not sure if that apply for other older version.
Even right now, as I test this now, its still not reliable enough to make
sure I wrote to the right person.
That's the auto complete function of Outlook. If I would delete all the
nickname part and wait for Outlook to populate and let me select on the
dialog, that's the whole different thing.
I sent email wrongly a few times to the wrong person a few time if you ask
me.

I'm still on Outlook 2010, but maybe this will help, as I can't imagine it's
change for 2013. If I type 1 character in the To field, WE doesn't speak,
but the list of suggestion starts to populate below where I am typing. If I
type a second character, WE will read the first suggestion in the list that
matches, without me having to arrow down. Once I hit enter on the option I
want, Control numpad 5 reads the current person to verify.

I open a new message with Ctrl-n. I hear, blah blah to

I tap the first letter of the address and hear nothing. I have to down-arrow
once, then up-arrow once to hear the selection, the one I want.

Now, If I tap the first letter, assume that it has selected the first entry
starting with that letter I tapped, and hit enter, I still hear nothing
until I up- or down-arrow

Not very helpful. I'm forced to spend the time to verify, verify, verify.
Can this be fixed? What can I do?
