Mouse Keys and Reading Text

2015-09-06 Thread Vic Pereira via Talk
First, I've noticed that when my mouse boundary is set to full screen or
active window I usually can read more lines after pressing the hot key to
move the mouse to the bottom or top corners. If I go to one of the bottom
corners and press the mouse next line hot key there is still more there.

Second, this happened in Windows 7 and is still going on after I updated to
Windows 10. Window-Eyes will sometimes not read all of the text on the line
when I press the read current line hot key. It reads the first part. I know
the text is there, because the read to end hot key picks it up and if I move
word by word it also picks it up.

Third, the mouse keys still have problems reading character by character.
For example in Windows Explorer if I want to get the spelling of a file name
I cannot move the mouse one character at a time. I have to press the read
line twice to get the spelling. This is OK if we still had the format of
eight characters with a three character file extension, however now people
are getting creative and lengthy with their file names. Also, they are at
times putting periods in the file name before the extension.

Vic

Re: station playlist

2015-09-06 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk
The scripts for SPL are supurb, and are quite definitely worth getting.
They offer a lot of the same functionality as the jaws scripts,
including the ability to set either announcement when a song is ending
or a beep. you can also determine how soon before the song the beep
occurs. you can also re-arange the way in which Window-eyes reads the
information in the playlist area. If you don't want to hear a bit of
data, you can silence it. if you change your mind and want that data
read again, you can re-enable it. It might be worth checking out the
script read me file to get a better idea of everything they can do, and
there is a lot.

Hi JP,

If you own the full retail version of Window-Eyes 9.2, and you don't need a
CD, that is, you're okay to archive your own copy of your software, you can
request from AI Squared a link to a full installer package of Window-Eyes
9.2 which will install just fine on Windows 10.

One other thing.
How long have you had Windows on that machine for?
Windows installations like any other thing can get old and just need a
clean installation from time to time.
But I wouldn't advise you try that if you don't feel up to it of
course, but that's also a possibility that came to mind.

You can always use the Window-Eyes bypass key, insert-b and then alt-a.
Otherwise, while running Winamp, press the context key (the key next to

also in your graphics propperties, under hotkeys, you should disable these.

It's usually alt-control-arrow keys that flip the display. For us screen

Re: Mouse keys are not working as they used to and control shift b many times does not help

2015-09-06 Thread manny via Talk

Hi to all,
In many programs WE9.2 will not read the screen with the numpad, and in
many cases the only fix is to revert to a previous version.
For example, I am using firefox version 30.0 and the numpad reads the
screen, but any version higher and you get a bing sound when reading the
screen with the numpad. The same holds true for Thunderbird.
I am using the current version of Thunderbird and WE9.2 gives me a bing
when trying to read the screen with the numpad.
Someone had asked what version of thunderbird does WE9.2 read the screen
with the numpad, but I have not come across the answer to that question.

If anyone knows, please post the answer.

Good Luck, Manny please help me reach a million clicks by forwarding my

Robin,
My first recommendation would be to try different Window-Eyes mouse
boundaries to see if that helps. Maybe you accidentally changed the
Window-Eyes mouse boundary to a setting that you normally don't use. The
hotkey to cycle among the options is Control-Shift-B.

Subject: Mouse keys are not working as they used to

Hi - My mouse keys aren't working as they used to and I'm not sure what I
may have done or what changed. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit and WE 9.1. I think

this started a couple days ago, but I can't be sure. Here are some
examples.

1. If I'm in a Windows Explorer view, hitting numpad 7 used to take me
to the very top of the window on the title bar. Now hitting numpad 7 says
top left, but it takes me to the beginning of the first file or folder name
in the view. Numpad 1 takes me to the last folder or file.

2. In my Outlook 2010 inbox, I'm taken to the top of my inbox with the
point sitting on one of the icons just left of "From" on the column headers.

Numpad 1 takes me to the last message in my inbox.

3. I use Cisco Jabber for instant messaging and have to use mouse
pointer to read much of it. Numpad 7 used to take me to the top of the
window where I could use numpad 2 to go down the window and see who was
messaging me and the status. I can't get this to work at all. I cannot
figure out where the pointer goes when I hit numpad 7 and it just dings if I

try to use mouse navigation afterward. This is the most problematic impact
right now.

4. On the Desktop, numpad 7 does take me to the top left corner. From
here, I get dings unless I have it set to line and then numpad 2 will read
each line of icons. I don't normally use mouse keys on the desktop screen,
so maybe this is normal function.

5. In Word 2010, numpad 7 takes me to an area off the document, at the
far left just below all the tool bars.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this? It's impacting my ability here at work.
I already tried restarting WE to see if it was a fluke.

This is no longer necessary, actually, since the most recent versions of WE
