RE: Read System Files And Folders One Character At a Time

2015-11-13 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi Guys:
OK, tried f2 this morning on a project folder inside the OS (c drive) folder
and today it worked.
Alt-d also gave me the path.
I did route the mouse to it but the keypad number 5 didn’t read anything
except the entire label as it were, the folder name no matter how many times I
hit it in succession but the other f2 method worked.
This means something random went wrong in WindowEyes yesterday causing f2 not
to work or at least not to read the dialog or I was on, as Rod mentions, a non
changeable label whatever that is.
Thanks for the heads up guys and, by the way Rod, what do you mean by a
changeable label in this context?
Can you give me one so I can see if perhaps I was on one yesterday when I tried
the f2 key?
Rick USA

Hi Rick,

F2 will work in This PC only if you're on a disk or device which has a label
which can be renamed.

Rick,

I'm not sure exactly where you're referring to. Within the "This PC"
window on Windows 10 I can spell everything by routing the mouse to it
and hitting the current clip hot key once to read it, twice to spell it,
and a third time to spell it phonetically. But there are no paths in
that window. F2 works on any file in Explorer. And Alt-D puts you in the
address bar and the full path is already highlighted. So you can just
copy it or read it. F6 returns you to the main window.

Hi, when in a list of searchs on like ebay.com for example I will read one
list then do alt left arrow. Instead of windoweyes staying there it will
shoot to the top of the page. Is there a way to fix this? I'm using latest
windoweyes.

Adobe Reader XI question

Hi,
I'm curious if there is a hotkey or something to quickly tell me which page I'm

Hello, I am still using windows xp sp3 and window eyes 8.4. Have not gotten
the money to upgrade to a machine that cal support windows 10 or window eyes
9.X.

Can someone remind me if there is a way to turn off all the noises and hot
key displays that occur when I am in IE 8 and arrowing down a webpage
displayed in IE 8. Thanks

Hello,

The New version of Browse Mode at least on my system, tends to be a bit
quirky.

Sometimes it works as it should, and other times, as you say, you need
to turn it On. I see this all the time when visiting Youtube. The
first screen reads and works fine, but the Search Result screen about
half the time, I need to turn on Browse mode.

Guess the bottom line is that Yes, there is at least one other person
using 9.2 that finds Browse Mode to have its problems.

I continue to struggle with 9.2 as I wait for any updates or upgrades.

I have a fully functioning version of adobe acrobat pro. Until I unstalled
the latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader, my Adobe pro was the default -
all my .pdf docs would be opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro and I could save docs
as word files, etc. Now, Now, whenever I open a .pdf doc, it opens in Adobe
Acrobat reader, not the Pro version. How do I change this? I can't find a
setting that makes Adobe Acrobat Pro the default.

Please help!

Grrr hit the send key before i was done. My biggest concern however, i had
a long chat with ai2 IN yesterday is people who would be coming over from
we for office like me. Who bought voices. Yes, i know fusion comes with
vocalizer expressive and neospeech voices. I bought classic english
voices

for we for office for vocalizer jill nuance got rid of her when they came
out with expressive. I would really like to be able to use the voices i
bought for we for office with fusion. Not to mention people who bought
eloquence and dectalk for we for office. Yes, i know you can buy sapi5
eloquence now but it's double what ai2 charges. If fusion is basically
using we as the screen reader anyway, i don't think it's too much to ask
to

be able to use the voices we bought.

spellcheck no longer works in outlook 2010

2015-11-13 Thread john riehl via Talk
I reinstalled Outlook enhance by going through a somewhat complicated
process by literally asking Windows to install the app. Now my spellcheck
does not work; I get a whole line of text, not an isolated word when I try
to spellcheck an e-mail in Outlook-2010, Windows-7. Has anybody got any
suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks.

Re: Anyone tried the new ZoomText Fusion?

2015-11-13 Thread Kevin Huber via Talk
Hi:
Zoomtext Fusion does, in fact, have Window-eyes built into it, but,
from what I understand, it uses the Insert key layout keystrokes as
opposed to the traditional Window-eyes keystrokes.

Hi. I have tried it on a computer that I have set up at our local training
center for the blind, and I must say, great job AI Squared! No more will a
low vision person have to start over from scratch with another screen reader
and have to relearn a whole new set of keystrokes.

Re: how to prevent internet exploreer from saving anything

2015-11-13 Thread Kevin Huber via Talk
Hi Dennis and all:

When I reread my post on this subject, I realize that it might have
been a little, or verry, confusing, so to clarify,
If you sign out of your gmail account and then close your browser,
then the next time you go to the gmail website, then it will not log
you directly into your account, it will probably ask you for your
password, I tried it a couple of days ago just to make sure.
Anyway, the other posts that people have added to this conversation
are excellent ideas, so you have several options to try.

Re: Read System Files And Folders One Character At a Time

2015-11-13 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

I often need to build file paths to a particular file or folder, the path to
it is in the properties window for the item, window eyes only reads the
information in this operating system using the mouse, but it is so far
doable.
So why doesn't f2 work and how do I read a list item to look for capitals in
the name?
I run Windows 8.1 and WE 9.2.

It's only been one day so I can't offer any sweeping conclusion. but I
haven't noticed anything better or worse, other than the fact that big
brother undid some of my changes. Welcome to the new world.

Subject: windows 10 update

This new November windows 10 update build 1511.3, 10586 takes as long to
install as the first upgrading to Windows 10 took. Have it installed on two
machines so far. Don't see anything of major significance as yet.
Maybe the AiSquared staff could tells us if this anything special with
regards to screen readers and this update.

Re: Could anybody pleas enlighten me?

2015-11-13 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Larry,

The File Explorer issue is fixed.

Your system should be fine. I upgraded my four year old desktop and
noticed no difference in performance, which was a surprise. Actually it
got a little better. But I'm sure that's because I did a clean install.
And that has been the make it or break it for some.

Overall I'm actually impressed with such a young new OS from Microsoft.
Getting real feedback from real people via the insider program resulted
in probably the best initial Windows release ever. But there are plenty
of little headaches as well. And unless you want it for Cortana or to
get out of Windows 8 I can't say there's anything particularly
compelling about it.

It's an enormous invasion of your privacy. But of course just about
everything is these days. The problem is the paradigm shift in recent
years of companies just taking it all by default without asking you and
burying it in 72 pages of fine print. They're literally going to log
just about every last thing you do, say, and write, in order to "serve
you better."

There are ways around much of it. But a small book could be written on
that alone.

And if you decide to go for it you should go to the manufacturer's sites
and find, download, and install Windows 10 drivers for your display
adapter, sound card, printer, etc. Then run the Windows 10 compatibility
wizard

So that's my two cents worth.

Regards,
Tom

Hello Listers,

I realize that this question may be more than a bit general, so it may
evoke many or for that matter few responses for that reason, but here goes.

I recall there being a discussion concerning the use of File Explorer in
Windows 10 by WE 9.2 users. Apparently the file explorer behaved quite
sluggishly, at least when Windows 10 came out.

Of course, there may be other things that I should be ware of, and if
you all wish to discuss them as well, that would be welcome.

I am using Window- Eyes 9.2 for Office a Dell XPS PC with a 3.2gb CPU, I
believe previous generation, 64 bit, with 8gb of ram, so I am naturally
hoping that there will not be any noticeable or significant slowing down
of the system with this upgrade, if I should decide to go ahead and do
it. And again, if there are any other risks or frustrations to consider,
please let me know.

If you don't wish to clutter up the list with anything previously
discussed on this matter that I might have missed, please feel free to
contact me off list.

Thanks,

Larry
