RE: Skype

2015-11-14 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Jim,

Yes, it works very well.
Your best friends are Alt-1 to go to all of your contacts, and Alt-2, which
goes to your most recent ones.
The Applications key brings up the available actions for a selected contact.
Once a contact is open, tab moves through the fields and links you need, and
spacebar will activate buttons and bring up context menus, and the arrow
keys are needed as well.
Also, when you have begun a call, and you need to enter dial tones for, say,
a menu system, like online banking, tab to the dialpad button and activate
it, and you can then press the phone buttons you need by tabbing through the
buttons and pressing spacebar on the one you want; you can also use the
numpad, as long as you remember to turn numlock on; note that while the
numpad does have an asterisk key for the star, you'll have to use the
shifted number 3 on the alphanumeric part of the keyboard in order to press
the pound key, unless you tab to the button on the dialpad to the right of
the zero key.
This should get you going. Smile

Hth,

Rod

Re: TWITTER

2015-11-14 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk

Hi

Making use of one of the twitter clients made especially for the blind
is your very best bet. There are a few free options and a paid one.
For free, you can use, tw blue, which is primarily made by spanish
speakers, but there is a US version that is easy to find.

http://www.twblue.es
That one is regularly updated. The Qube, which is one that is a
little less developed, is available at

http://theqube.oire.org

The paid one has a silly name, chicken nugget but it's one of the most
powerful clients available. http://getaccessibleapps.org
and choose the software link. I hope this helps somewhat. The nice
thing about all these clients is that you can use them from anywhere in
Windows. for example, to look at your tweets you are following, use
control windows up and down arrow. Be sure to read the read me for all
the keystrokes.

Re: weird issue with browse mode

2015-11-14 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
Unusable, no. But, since results are displayed dynamically on the page as you
type with browse mode off, the user has to enable browse mode before
navigating the search results. This can be tricky for novice users. With
Google instant disabled, results don't get displayed until you submit the
search, and then a new page loads with the results. Browse mode kicks on
automatically when the results page loads and you can start navigating through
the search results. There is a tutorial that covers how to disable Google
instant and perform a Google search on the old GW Micro site. Use the training
link and then tutorials link to get there.

they'll be replaced with the generic "Local drive" label. The drive
letter is not part of the label. So you'd see Local drive (C:), Local
drive (D:), etc.

Hi Guys:
OK, tried f2 this morning on a project folder inside the OS (c drive)

Alt-d also gave me the path.
I did route the mouse to it but the keypad number 5 didn’t read anything
except the entire label as it were, the folder name no matter how many
times I hit it in succession but the other f2 method worked.
This means something random went wrong in WindowEyes yesterday causing f2
not to work or at least not to read the dialog or I was on, as Rod
mentions, a non changeable label whatever that is.
Thanks for the heads up guys and, by the way Rod, what do you mean by a
changeable label in this context?
Can you give me one so I can see if perhaps I was on one yesterday when I
tried the f2 key?

Hi Rick,

F2 will work in This PC only if you're on a disk or device which has a
label which can be renamed.

Hi Tom and thanks:
F2 did not work. It has worked on the desktop but it did not work during
that session when I was in the This Computer and then in the OS folder.

Perhaps something got temporarily mucked up.
I will give it a go tomorrow just to check it out and verify it works and,
if not, will get more detailed specifics on what and where I am if it
doesn’t work.

I will also try your other suggestions.
Later and thanks again:

Rick,

I'm not sure exactly where you're referring to. Within the "This PC"
window on Windows 10 I can spell everything by routing the mouse to it
and hitting the current clip hot key once to read it, twice to spell it,
and a third time to spell it phonetically. But there are no paths in
that window. F2 works on any file in Explorer. And Alt-D puts you in the
address bar and the full path is already highlighted. So you can just
copy it or read it. F6 returns you to the main window.

I often need to build file paths to a particular file or folder, the path

Re: Read System Files And Folders One Character At a Time

2015-11-14 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Rick,

In my message I said to route the mouse and use the Current clip hot
key, not the current line. The clip hot keys are Insert-7, 8, and 9, for
previous, current, and next clip. Clips are essentially any logical unit
on the screen.

The drive label Rod referred to is just that: the names of the drives
you see in This PC. For instance, when I open This PC I see Win10/64
(c:), Audio (D:), and DVD RW Drive (E:). These names are the labels of
the drives. You can change them with F2 or in the properties window. But
they're just a label with no practical purpose. If you delete them
they'll be replaced with the generic "Local drive" label. The drive
letter is not part of the label. So you'd see Local drive (C:), Local
drive (D:), etc.
