More Questions About Skype

2015-11-23 Thread Robert Ringwald via Talk
OK, ctrl alt R does connect with the party.

Again, according to the list of commands on the Webinor, ctrl M shuts off the
mic. When I do a ctrl M, everything goes to hell. I can’t even bring up
Window-Eyes. I can’t even shut down the computer properly. What’s the deal?

I also tried using the bypass hot key, Insert B but still Ctrl M does not work.

Also, How do I add someone to my address list?

RE: virtual view OCR error

2015-11-23 Thread via Talk
Hey. Well at least you're getting an error. Since the update--apparently,
Virtual View goes through the motions of OCR-ing a pdf, then closes down. I
re-installed access bridge, rebooted, removed, added, and updated Virtual
view. I am now seeking suggestions about what to try next.

Win 7 home premium 65 bit, WE 9.1.

Thanks in advance,
Lou N.

I've never listened to the webinar. So I wasn't familiar with that hot

somehow in the properties, open the context menu and there should be a

Hello,

Not sure what if anything your missing, but you are not the only one
with MS Word working very slow with WE 9.2.

Although, I am using MS Word 2010 in Win 7. Paging Up or Down, and even
Allowing down a line at a time can be slow slow slow.

Also the Spell Checker does not always read correctly.

I have actually started using JART as my Word Processor. It seems to
work quickly, and does everything I need.

Sorry, can't tell you what is the problem, but at least on my system, I
was experiencing the same kind of slowness, to the point I switched to
something else.

The Java Access Bridge will only help if the Java application in question uses
certain types of user interface components that support accessibility. In other
words, the Java Access Bridge doesn't automatically add accessibility to any
Java application. It is still up to the Java application developer to
implement accessible controls on their end that work with the Java Access
Bridge.

Hey guys,

I am sure hoping someone can shed some light on this, cause to say it's
annoying is a huge under-statement. I am running we 9.2, win 7, and the latest
thunderbird. Well, my messages that i type seem to lose focus.
By this i mean, i'll be typing a message, and try and up and down arrow, and
can't read anything. The only way to get it back, is to minimize everything,
then alt tab back to thunderbird, then it'll just randomly disappear. is there
any fix for this at all. I was just writing an email and i had to refocus 9
times, completely unacceptable to say the least, and a huge waste of time. I
sure hope this can be fixed. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Web site problem

2015-11-23 Thread Donald L. Roberts via Talk
I am hopeful that someone on list will check this out on my behalf and
let me know your findings.

I recently attempted to make a purchase online from:
http://www.lowes.com
and never was able to complete the transaction. Incidentally, I am
using Window-eyes 9.2.1 on a windows 10 desktop.  I had no difficulty
loading the page and was able to use the search to find the product I
wanted and put it in the shopping cart. But when I attempted to check
out is where my problems began. I was able to find the guest account
log in, and I was able to enter my name and address and to review the
item in the cart. But when I got to the payment info screen,
Window-eyes kept losing focus. I wonder if this is from flash and
frequent screen reloads or just what the issue is. If possible, please
go as far as you can including credit card info and then back out before
the submit button. I really want to know if this is some issue on my
end or if there are significant problems with the page.

Thanks for checking.

Probably not. While Javascript is used on almost every modern website,
Java is rarely used. Exceptions to this rule include online games and

I use FB mobile. It is the easiest and blind friendly. If you are using it,

As for pokes, I find them in my notifications. I receive a message that says,

RE: [EXTERNAL] Java

2015-11-23 Thread Baracco, Andrew W via Talk
It only makes a difference if you are trying to access a web site that
uses it to present something. Many online courses require that you have
it installed. Some sites such as sports fantasy sites use it to present
realtime stats, play by play, etc. Otherwise, it is likely not needed,
but some version of Java is usually preinstalled on new PCs unless you
build it yourself.

I am visiting my daughter and family in NY. Everyone is asleep at 1:00 AM. I
woke up, got up and came into the dining room and turned on my computer which
was plugged in there charging the battery.

This loud burglar alarm type noise started. It was very loud. Sounded like a
car alarm in that it kept changing alarm sounds. Beeping, then steady tone
then other tones then back to beeping. It was so loud that I did not connect it
with my computer.

I thought that my daughter had an alarm system with a motion detector that they
neglected to tell me about.

Finally my son in law got up, staggered into the room half asleep and turned
off my computer. He read something on the screen but I was so shocked that I
don’t remember what it was.
I can’t imagine my computer making such a racket.

Has anyone else ever encountered such a thing? I’ve had computers since about
1988 and never had this happen.

I have a Del lap top with Win 10, WE 9.2.

Hey guys,
Well, having not used adobe in so long, to say i'm discouraged is a huge
uhnder statement. Why can't this thing just work? What am i doing
wrong, i an not navigate this document to save my life.
Guys correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm assuming the following.

1 to get to the top of any pdf document you do control and home
2 to navigate throughout a document you use the up and down arrows and
control page up and control page down. Someone mentioned something that
to get to a list of bookmarks in a document, you hit f6, and all my
adobe is saying is blank page edit. I'm hitting control tab, nothing.
What is going on here? This shouldn't be this complicated. Any ideas?

Where did you download it from?

Chrome.google.com?

Sometimes those download sites like download.com put little nasty friends in
the installers.
It is better to get it from the web site developer and not a file

Subject: Google Chrome--So Secure, So Fast, So Easy to Use! Bull!

I was trying to troubleshoot problems I am having with my church’s web site,
and they suggested I try Google Chrome. I did. In probing around, I found
that there are many checkboxes inChrome settings that Window-Eyes does not
identify. They are only checked or unchecked. Next I noticed that Chrome
loaded at start-up and Google Chrome was the default browser. No problem, so
far. However, Audible Manager told me that I need to close Chromium tab for
it to update. I then should press okay. I followed these instructions, but
Audible Manager never seemed to update. After a few days, I started getting
a virus alert from Esset Smart Security. It was one of their many alerts
that one cannot act upon before they leave the screen.
Thanks Esset. Then, I noticed that my home page was highjacked. Yes, the
title appeared to be the same. However, the number of links was different,
and the only edit box I could find was one asking me to enter my home phone
number. My next step was to try to remove Google Chrome Packages with
Programs and Features in Windows 7 Control Panel. I was graciously informed
that I needed to contact my administrator as I didn’t have sufficient
authority to remove this. Since I am the administrator, this doesn’t make
sense except that Windows has its own scheme of permissions and ownership
that would confound a Yale University think tank. Yes, I understand it is
generally for the good of the computer user, but its still baffling to
figure out and sometimes hard to use without sighted assistance. Suddenly,
with a breath of fresh air, I decided to use System Restore. I know you need
to be careful or you may actually restore a virus. However, it worked for
me. I got rid of the recalcitrant Google Chrome Packages. I got my home page
back without the pernicious edit box asking me for my home phone number.
Now, please tell me why Google Chrome is so good! Sorry for the long rant,
but it hasn’t been a good week on the computer.

As others have said, when in browse mode you press F8 at the beginning,
move to the end, and press F8 again. A dialog will appear and you will
be on the default Copy plain text button.

But with links you can just go to the beginning and hit F8 twice.

Tom

RE: Google Chrome--So Secure, So Fast, So Easy to Use! Bull!

2015-11-23 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Where did you download it from?

Chrome.google.com?

Sometimes those download sites like download.com put little nasty friends in
the installers.
It is better to get it from the web site developer and not a file repository.

Subject: Google Chrome--So Secure, So Fast, So Easy to Use! Bull!

I was trying to troubleshoot problems I am having with my church’s web site,
and they suggested I try Google Chrome. I did. In probing around, I found that
there are many checkboxes inChrome settings that Window-Eyes does not identify.
They are only checked or unchecked. Next I noticed that Chrome loaded at
start-up and Google Chrome was the default browser. No problem, so far.
However, Audible Manager told me that I need to close Chromium tab for it to
update. I then should press okay. I followed these instructions, but Audible
Manager never seemed to update. After a few days, I started getting a virus
alert from Esset Smart Security. It was one of their many alerts that one
cannot act upon before they leave the screen.
Thanks Esset. Then, I noticed that my home page was highjacked. Yes, the title
appeared to be the same. However, the number of links was different, and the
only edit box I could find was one asking me to enter my home phone number. My
next step was to try to remove Google Chrome Packages with Programs and
Features in Windows 7 Control Panel. I was graciously informed that I needed to
contact my administrator as I didn’t have sufficient authority to remove this.
Since I am the administrator, this doesn’t make sense except that Windows has
its own scheme of permissions and ownership that would confound a Yale
University think tank. Yes, I understand it is generally for the good of the
computer user, but its still baffling to figure out and sometimes hard to use
without sighted assistance. Suddenly, with a breath of fresh air, I decided to
use System Restore. I know you need to be careful or you may actually restore a
virus. However, it worked for me. I got rid of the recalcitrant Google Chrome
Packages. I got my home page back without the pernicious edit box asking me for
my home phone number. Now, please tell me why Google Chrome is so good! Sorry
for the long rant, but it hasn’t been a good week on the computer.

RE: copyint text to the lipbiard

2015-11-23 Thread gosselin_louis via Talk
What I hate about this method of selecting text is that you can't do
anything but copy. For example, you can't remove unwanted garbage text and
save the rest. You must First save the file, saving it as .txt or .rtf, but
never as html xml, or mht. Then you can edit at will. Just another
insurmountable obstacle to slow my work at the computer to a crawl. Not
helpful! I hate it.

Hi THERE!
OK, using your example of a link do the following, using the arrow keys
place the cursor on the first character then press 'F8'. W.E. will say
something like selection start. You then use the arrow key to go over
whatever it is that you are wishing to copy till you get to the end.
You then press the'F8 key' again and W.e. will say copy to clipboard you
simply press enter and it is on the clipboard. It does take a bit of
getting use to, but I use this feature quite frequently. Hope this helps!
Have A Great Day! de
.
