Vaughan,
I just wanted to reassure you that we understand and appreciate the importance
of continued improvements to Braille support in our products. I can't tell you
exactly when more Braille enhancements will be made available, but what I can
say is that improved Braille support is one of our top priorities now that
Window-Eyes 9.3 has been released. As I have mentioned to you before, your
suggestions are being reviewed and documented. And, we greatly appreciate your
feedback.
Regards,
Marc

I am looking forward to downloading the new Window-Eyes this evening my time.

I am also encouraged that amongst the enhancements, read-to-end has been
redesigned for proper synchronising with braille displays.

However: there is a long list of needed braille support updates, which I have,
along with others, been requesting across several product releases.

Synchronising as part of read-to-end is different from braille autoscroling,
which is just one of several recommendations I have provided. Proper
autoscorlling allows for adjustment of the display's panning independently of
speech.

Improving mouse performance is also a significant development. But are there
added braille hot keys to take advantage of these improvements?

Speaking of braille hot keys: one of my suggestions has been that these be
reorganised, to follow the grouping which applies to speech related hot keys.

What is AI Squared true commitment to braille? When will we see these much
needed braille improvements, not of all of which are listed in this response.

Fixes to improve the performance of Outlook are very welcomed, along with
changes to the app update menu.

Vaughan.

Hi Linda,

This file might be a large one and so may take a while to download. If
it were me, I would wait maybe up to an hour after starting the updating

then it would be time to call for Help at A I Squared.

Speaking of adding things, you have to add hotkey to turn on/of the

I am looking forward to downloading the new Window-Eyes this evening my
time.

I am also encouraged that amongst the enhancements, read-to-end has been
redesigned for proper synchronising with braille displays.

However: there is a long list of needed braille support updates, which I
have, along with others, been requesting across several product releases.

Synchronising as part of read-to-end is different from braille autoscroling,
which is just one of several recommendations I have provided. Proper
autoscorlling allows for adjustment of the display's panning independently
of speech.

Improving mouse performance is also a significant development. But are
there added braille hot keys to take advantage of these improvements?

Speaking of braille hot keys: one of my suggestions has been that these be
reorganised, to follow the grouping which applies to speech related hot
keys.

What is AI Squared true commitment to braille? When will we see these much
needed braille improvements, not of all of which are listed in this
response.

Fixes to improve the performance of Outlook are very welcomed, along with
changes to the app update menu.

Vaughan.

Window-Eyes 9.3 is now available providing customers with the
ability to recognize text from files or the screen with built in
Optical Character Recognition. This version also offers a more
reliable and stable user experience that will help maximize your
productivity at work, home, and school.
Keep reading to learn more about the features and enhancements in
Window-Eyes 9.3:

Extract Text from Files, Images and the Screen Quickly and Easily

*Recognize text in inaccessible scanned PDF files.

*Recognize text from images in .bmp, .jpg, .png, and .tiff formats.

*Choose from several different kinds of file types to
recognize, including .txt, .html, .xml, and .zip.

*If Office is installed, you can also OCR documents ending
in .docx, .pptx, and .xlsx.

*Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files can be recognized,
including text found in WordArt to ensure readability.

All-New Read to End

*Read-to-end has been completely rewritten to provide the
most responsive and accurate reading experience.

*When read-to-end is stopped, it will start again from the
word that was last spoken to help save time and increase efficiency.

*If a Braille display is connected, Braille output will
remain in sync with speech as documents are read aloud.

*Hot keys used to increase or decrease speech are much more
responsive, enabling users to more easily read documents in the
manner they prefer.

Microsoft Office

*Improved reading of all spell check dialogs in Office 2010,
2013, and 2016.

*Responsiveness of the Outlook 2010, 2013, and 2016 inbox
under Windows 10 has been improved to make reading email faster.

*Outlook's conversation view in 2010, 2013, and 2016 is now
supported so that users can group messages with the same subject
enabling reading of all messages within a thread quickly and easily.

*If Window-Eyes was restarted while Outlook was open,
message virtualization would stop functioning until Outlook was
restarted. This issue has been fixed.

*When a PowerPoint slideshow started, and Window-Eyes was
set to automatically read the entire document, only the content of
the first slide would be spoken. This has been fixed.

*If the version of Window-Eyes for users of Microsoft Office
was in use, and the Office 365 sign-in window was closed without
first entering any text, Window-Eyes would crash. This has been resolved.

*Other miscellaneous fixes.
Mouse Improvements

*The physical mouse now reads UIA and IA2 programs, which
improves the reading experience in programs such as web browsers and
modern Windows apps.

*A hot key to continue a mouse search in reverse has been added.

*Window-Eyes can now read an entire line or only a word
under the pointer as the physical mouse moves across the screen.

*The mouse can now be set to read instant, hover, or no echo
when moving the mouse around the screen. If the user sets it to
hover, the amount of time can be adjusted before the information
under the mouse is spoken. This allows low vision users better
control over what they hear when the mouse moves around the screen.

*Other miscellaneous fixes.
Other Fixes

*Responsiveness in the Windows 10 File Explorer has been improved.

*Quickly check the status of wireless network connections
with a single hot key.

*Responsiveness for Eloquence, eSpeak, RealSpeak, Vocalizer,
and Vocalizer Expressive synthesizers has been significantly improved.

*The WE cursor (which allows you to explore the screen
without moving the mouse pointer) has been renamed to the invisible
cursor to better reflect its functionality.

*The QuickStart Wizard has been replaced with a new app
called Setup Wizard providing a new visual interface and more
options to help users get started using Window-Eyes.

*The app update notification options that are displayed when
updates are available have been expanded to include a tone, dialog
box, tooltip, or any combination of the three. This enables users
to select how they want to be notified of app updates.

*Support has been added for the Handy Tech Active Star,
Handy Tech Modular, and BAUM VarioUltra displays.

*Numerous stability fixes and performance enhancements have
been added.

Hi, when I open internet explorer and file explorer under windows 10 x 64 I
can read by moving the mouse to the top of the screen then moving down with

Like the mouse is stuck.

This has been happening in previous version 9.2 under windows 10 too.

RE: Introducing Window-eyes 9.3

2015-12-16 Thread Dave Basden via Talk
I got the same message about not being able to
upgrade my installation of 9.2. I haven't tried
to download again. Something ain't right!

At 05:35 PM 12/16/2015, you wrote:
I am having persistent frustrating trouble
upgrading to 9.3. After finally completing the
download and running the installer, I get two
error dialogues: the first says that the
installer cannot create a license; the second
says that this copy of Window-eyes cannot be
upgraded. I have since reinstalled 9.2.1, but the errors do not change.
If I attempt to download a fresh copy of the
upgrade, I receive the cryptic error: Áccess
denied; contact AI Squared." I assume that I've
attempted to download the upgrade too many times
and that my online records need to be reset from AI Squared's side.
But what about the upgrade's apparent inability
to install over my copy of Window-eyes? The
check for update dialogue reports the correct
version, my two remaining SMA counts and the
option to download 9.3. So, the installer is
obviously checking and not finding information
about my installation that Window-eyes actually
contains. Bottom line, how can I resolve this and begin enjoying 9.3?

Re: Appolo II Externa with 9.3.1 - problem solved

2015-12-16 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Hi again all

Problem fixed. One or both of 2 things solved it.

I unchecked a "use buffers" setting in the ports advanced settings, and
found that databits had mysteriously changed to 7 instead of 8.

As a separate bit of advice, Windows is quite capable of changing the
comport setting that will work with your speech synth without telling
you. In the case of the USB to serial convertor, if your speech synth
won't work at all, go to the device manager and check the port number
it's using, which may occasionally change for reasons which I certainly
don't understand.

Good luck

WE9.3 gives error message that it can't be installed with the current installed version. What is the solution?

2015-12-16 Thread manny via Talk

Hi,
The same problem here.
I was informed that I need WE8. something or better for this update to
work, but after responding to several question, I say no to Braille,
and I get the message 9.3 can not be installed with the version of
window eyes I have.

I uninstalled and installed 9.0 and hit the update with the same result.
Do I need to go back to WE8. something?
Or are we dealing with a bug?
Many thanks,

Appolo II Externa with 9.3.1

2015-12-16 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Hi all

My trusty Apollo II External, which I use when I don't want speech to be
broadcast, works through a Prolific USB to Serial Convertor, which
Windows says is "working properly". The port number is correct, and the
other port settings have not changed. When I switch to this synth via
the voice rotor, apollo just comes up with "Sigma9 0" ETC.

Any ideas?

RE: Introducing Window-eyes 9.3

2015-12-16 Thread Orlando Enrique Fiol via Talk
I am having persistent frustrating trouble upgrading to 9.3. After
finally completing the download and running the installer, I get two
error dialogues: the first says that the installer cannot create a
license; the second says that this copy of Window-eyes cannot be
upgraded. I have since reinstalled 9.2.1, but the errors do not change.
If I attempt to download a fresh copy of the upgrade, I receive the
cryptic error: Áccess denied; contact AI Squared." I assume that I've
attempted to download the upgrade too many times and that my online
records need to be reset from AI Squared's side.
But what about the upgrade's apparent inability to install over my
copy of Window-eyes? The check for update dialogue reports the
correct version, my two remaining SMA counts and the option to
download 9.3. So, the installer is obviously checking and not finding
information about my installation that Window-eyes actually contains.
Bottom line, how can I resolve this and begin enjoying 9.3?

Re: Introducing Window-eyes 9.3

2015-12-16 Thread via Talk
I have had very irritating problems with 9.0, then 9.1,
and then 9.2. I have written and bored most of you with my rants.

Today, I get the message telling me there is a 9.3 now available. Good
I say, and attempt to download the latest update. Like many of you, I
too listened to three minutes of being told the process was progressing,
and then I find myself back at my WE Control Panel.

OK, I know about over loaded Servers, it is a Fact of Life, and so it
was earlier today.

About an hour ago, I attempted to download the 9.3 update again, and it
downloaded fine. However now the update will not install. Tells me it
can not update the program I have, end of message.

Doesn't say why. Just Poof and it is gone.

Attempted the downlad several times, and every time it downloaded the
file, but still would not install over my 9.2.

Don't tell me this 9.3 is not a Free Update?

Looks like I will need to call A I Squared in the morning to see if it
is Free, or it too, like the 9.2 has a Price to be paid before the
update will install.

Glad to hear from some of you that you all find the 9.3 to run faster

If I need to actually purchase this latest update to 9.3, I am not going
to be a Happy Customer of A I Squared.I am audacious enough to ask
why I should pay yet again, for a program with Fixes for the older 9.2
and 9.1, that I've already paid a total of $250.And never mind the
constant failure of the previous 9.1 and 9.2.

So at this point, I am hoping this is a Free update, and if it is not
Free, then I know the choices I have. Pay the money and shut up and be
Happy, or Shut Up and go away.

Can't wait for morning to come so I can find out if the 9.3 is Free of
Pay Again Big Guy.

and just pressed enter. I kept getting the same error box. so closed it, and
tried redownloading it again, thinking maybe my download was just broken.
sence then I haven't been able to get it at all, so I decided to just wait a
day to try to get it, as it is like any update to a piece of software.

WLM Question

2015-12-16 Thread Tom Fairhurst via Talk
Since I can’t get the upgrade at this time, I’ll ask a WLM question. I am using
WLM 2012. When I get an E-mail with many E-mail contacts, occasionally, I would
like to add some of them to my contact list. To do this, I open the E-mail and
Shirg-Tab to the To field where the contacts are shown. At that point, I arrow
to the contact I want, and then move the mouse pointer to it. When I
right-click the contact or press Shift+10, the only options I get are Edit
Contact and Send E-mail. The only contact I can edit or E-mail is the first
contact in the entire list, no matter what contact I attempt to select. I am
using WE 9.2 but don’t think this is a Window-Eyes problem. However, I am
wondering if anyone has experienced this?

I am strangely comforted that someone else is experiencing my
problem. But why can't we simply redownload a fresh copy of the upgrade?

Window-eyes 9.3

2015-12-16 Thread Michael Massey via Talk
Well, I finally got the Window-eyes 9.3 downloaded and installed on my Dell
Xps desktop and my Dell Xps laptop running Windows 10. On the desktop
computer after I pressed the enter key to restart the computer, the computer
appeared to restart, but Window-eyes did not seem to launch. I had to do a
hard shut down, the Window-eyes shut down sound played, then the computer
restarted when I pressed the power button. After Window-eyes launched, the
default apps installed, and then the setup wizard launched. On my laptop
computer, the installation went well, the computer restarted and Window-eyes
9.3 launched without the setup wizard.

Under the Enhancements tab disable all enhancements.
Apply, OK, OK, and close the window.

Re: Windows Update Warning

2015-12-16 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk
That was probably a good thing to do. I haven't followed this thread
very closely, but to prevent this windows 10 thing from happening again,
you'll want to use something called GWX control panel. Note it's not a
product made by GW Micro or AI squared, it's just got a similar name.
Here's a link to the download page.

http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/
I'll even make it easier for y'all. here's a direct link to the
installer, and then a direct link to the stand-alone executable. The
only real difference is that the installer creates entries on your start
menu and puts an icon for it on your desktop. I chose the stand-alone
executable, because you just run it, press enter on one button and
you're done. Direct link to installer:

http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/GwxControlPanelSetup.exe

Direct link to stand-alone executable:
http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/GWX_control_panel.exe
Remember, the stand-alone executable is just something you run, so if
you download that version, remember where your download folder is so you
can run it. If you're not sure where your download folder is and you
just wanna keep it simple, choose the installer. the setup screen is a
standard one so you should have no trouble, and you can run the program
just like any other piece of software.

I know this is a big thing for a lot of people including me. My pc is
just too old and isn't powerful enough to run Windows 10, so I wanted to
take those silly update pop-up windows away, and I know a lot of you do
too. Hope this helps.

Introducing Window-Eyes 9.3.1

2015-12-16 Thread Aaron Smith via Talk
Get Built-in Optical Character Recognition and a Faster User Experience with
Window-Eyes 9.3

Window-Eyes 9.3 is now available providing customers with the ability to
recognize text from files or the screen with built in Optical Character
Recognition. This version also offers a more reliable and stable user
experience that will help maximize your productivity at work, home, and school.
Keep reading to learn more about the features and enhancements in Window-Eyes
9.3:

Extract Text from Files, Images and the Screen Quickly and Easily

*Recognize text in inaccessible scanned PDF files.

*Recognize text from images in .bmp, .jpg, .png, and .tiff formats.

*Choose from several different kinds of file types to recognize,
including .txt, .html, .xml, and .zip.

*If Office is installed, you can also OCR documents ending in .docx,
.pptx, and .xlsx.

*Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files can be recognized, including text
found in WordArt to ensure readability.
All-New Read to End

*Read-to-end has been completely rewritten to provide the most
responsive and accurate reading experience.

*When read-to-end is stopped, it will start again from the word that
was last spoken to help save time and increase efficiency.

*If a Braille display is connected, Braille output will remain in sync
with speech as documents are read aloud.

*Hot keys used to increase or decrease speech are much more responsive,
enabling users to more easily read documents in the manner they prefer.
Microsoft Office

*Improved reading of all spell check dialogs in Office 2010, 2013, and
2016.

*Responsiveness of the Outlook 2010, 2013, and 2016 inbox under Windows
10 has been improved to make reading email faster.

*Outlook's conversation view in 2010, 2013, and 2016 is now supported
so that users can group messages with the same subject enabling reading of all
messages within a thread quickly and easily.

*If Window-Eyes was restarted while Outlook was open, message
virtualization would stop functioning until Outlook was restarted. This issue
has been fixed.

*When a PowerPoint slideshow started, and Window-Eyes was set to
automatically read the entire document, only the content of the first slide
would be spoken. This has been fixed.

*If the version of Window-Eyes for users of Microsoft Office was in
use, and the Office 365 sign-in window was closed without first entering any
text, Window-Eyes would crash. This has been resolved.

*Other miscellaneous fixes.
Mouse Improvements

*The physical mouse now reads UIA and IA2 programs, which improves the
reading experience in programs such as web browsers and modern Windows apps.

*A hot key to continue a mouse search in reverse has been added.

*Window-Eyes can now read an entire line or only a word under the
pointer as the physical mouse moves across the screen.

*The mouse can now be set to read instant, hover, or no echo when
moving the mouse around the screen. If the user sets it to hover, the amount of
time can be adjusted before the information under the mouse is spoken. This
allows low vision users better control over what they hear when the mouse moves
around the screen.

*Other miscellaneous fixes.
Other Fixes

*Responsiveness in the Windows 10 File Explorer has been improved.

*Quickly check the status of wireless network connections with a single
hot key.

*Responsiveness for Eloquence, eSpeak, RealSpeak, Vocalizer, and
Vocalizer Expressive synthesizers has been significantly improved.

*The WE cursor (which allows you to explore the screen without moving
the mouse pointer) has been renamed to the invisible cursor to better reflect
its functionality.

*The QuickStart Wizard has been replaced with a new app called Setup
Wizard providing a new visual interface and more options to help users get
started using Window-Eyes.

*The app update notification options that are displayed when updates
are available have been expanded to include a tone, dialog box, tooltip, or any
combination of the three. This enables users to select how they want to be
notified of app updates.

*Support has been added for the Handy Tech Active Star, Handy Tech
Modular, and BAUM VarioUltra displays.

*Numerous stability fixes and performance enhancements have been added.
