VarioUltra

2016-04-11 Thread Joakim Centervik via Talk
Hello listers!

I try to connect a Baum VarioUltra 40 to my Dell desktop and to my HP laptop
without success. Both computers have windows 10 64 bit with the latest
updates and Window-Eyes for office 9.4 installed. I try to connect the
display via USB but it doesn't show up. I know that the VarioUltra works
correctly because it runs perfectly with Jaws 17 and NVDA. Is it necessary
to make some changes to window-Eyes 9.4 or do I need to download and install
a special driver to make it work?

Thanks in advance

/Joakim

Hi there GUYS!
I tried running it with NVDA and had no more luck than with W.E.
Someone on another list said that it worked with JFW or did I
miss-understand him..? I know that when I had a Yaesu VX5R the
programming software worked rather well. But when I changed to the VX7R
the software didn't appear to work much better than the software does
with my chinese handheld. Sure wish they would create some software

installing it in my Programs x86 folder, which did not work. After
running the program, I closed Window-Eyes and re-opened it. The files
are listed under the SAPI option under devices/Synthesizers. Type the
letter "c" to get to the first voice.

Re: Word 2010 questions

2016-04-11 Thread Edward Green via Talk
Hi Don,

You need to enable Word Navigation Mode with insert z if you want to be able to
do things like press h to move between headings. This is akin to browse mode.
Obviously turn it off again before you start typing ...

I suspect you may be stuck with hearing bullets in a document, but you could
try toggling the attributes setting with Windows a and the format alert with
insert 5. However, I suspect you'll actually hear more formatting information
rather than less by altering these settings.

Depending on whether you need to preserve the formatting of the document, you
could always strip out things like bullets entirely. If you want to do this,
press control a to select all. Then press control q, which should strip out
all the formatting.

Cheers,

Ed

Word 2010 questions

Running Window-eyes on an HP Windows 10 desktop with Window-eyes 9.4.

What is the Window-eyes command in word to move to the next heading? I asked
this elsewhere and was told to hit the letter h. But all that does is add an h
to an unprotected word document, at least on this machine. So what am I
missing?

Next, what do I need to change in the Window-eyes control panel if I want to
read a word document without hearing things like headers, bullets, etc? In
other words, if I am reading a document where I wish to hear only the text of
the document.

Thanks.

Hi Rebecca,

Thank you very much for your thorough response.
Were the Outlook Enhance app to have been installed and active, Kurzweil
Calendar should not have had precedence;
Rather, Window-Eyes hotkeys always do.
Thanks so much for the parachute analogy for the mind; my wife and I both
had a good chuckle at the irony. Smile

Peace and long life (as the Vulcans say),

You never know what you'll learn if you but try it! Smile.

I thought I'd tried the control-alt-a hot key when it first was made
available to access the attachment list, and the Kurzweil calendar opened
instead. But when I tried it just now, the list of attachments opened, just
as Window-Eyes said it should! Isn't technology wonderful! LOL.

Can you visually see that the coupon image is on your screen? I find that when
I have message virtualization turned on, the images do not load in my messages.
I have to turn off message virtualization to see pictures, so do check that.

I ran the installer; the Truevoices show up for me on Windows 10 under SAPI
4, along with Eloquence. Window-eyes and NVDA can access them.

Josh,
Are you actually able to have these voices installed and operating with
WE? Or, are you just basing your utterence on some promises from the web.

I, along with several others, cannot seem to get things going. Have
downloaded the file, installed it - although Win7 64bit complained a bit
about compatibility. But even after restarting WE, no new voices show up
in the list of synthesizers. As a matter of fact, no SAPI4 voices here
at all, only two SAPI5.

So, Josh, we are eager to hear your advice on how to install these
voices, in a way that the Screenreader sees them, and can make any usage
of them. Or, are they only available through some scripting?

Not that I LONG for using them, but would be nice to have some alternatives.

Thanks for your input on the matter. Please post on the list, as a

Re: pdf editer

2016-04-11 Thread Lloyd Rasmussen via Talk
The official PDF editor is Acrobat from Adobe. I would probably use Omnipage
to convert the PDF to Word, edit there, then save back to PDF. This is less
expensive than OpenBook or Kurzweil 1000. I'm not sure that what you get
back from these programs would look sufficiently like the original to be
worth the trouble. If you are wanting to fill out a PDF form that is already
created, you should be able to do this with Window-Eyes and save the result
as PDF from within Acrobat Reader.
