where do i find guidelines for buying a computer

2016-04-14 Thread Ted Larson via Talk
Dear List:
Some years ago, gw micro sent out on this list a document giving guidelines for
buying a computer to work well with window-eyes. Since technology is changing
so rapidly, is the document still considered up-to-date? If so, where can I
find the link? I lost it when my windows xp outlook express folders
unaccountably got deleted. If there is a better resource, would you point me
to it. Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson

Re: WE and WD passport Portable HD

2016-04-14 Thread Dave Basden via Talk
I have been using Passport external HD's for many years and rely on
them. I have, however, never made any use of the software they come
with. The drive is great though.

other recommendations for a external hard drive?

Thanks

RE: Word 2010 questions

2016-04-14 Thread Van Lant, Robin via Talk
I think what you are looking for is on the WE Control Panel onder Verbosity,
Office, Word, Miscellaneous. There is a check box for speak styles, which I
have unchecked. I don't hear that stuff you mentioned, so this might be it.

Hi,
If you have the wordnav app installed (it comes by default) Press insert-z to
turn the navigation keys on, you can press h, shift-h etc.
Press insert-z to turn it off.

You would only hit H if you are in Fire Fox or Internet Explorer.

Subject: Word 2010 questions

Running Window-eyes on an HP Windows 10 desktop with Window-eyes 9.4.

What is the Window-eyes command in word to move to the next heading? I asked
this elsewhere and was told to hit the letter h. But all that does is add an h
to an unprotected word document, at least on this machine. So what am I
missing?

Next, what do I need to change in the Window-eyes control panel if I want to
read a word document without hearing things like headers, bullets, etc? In
other words, if I am reading a document where I wish to hear only the text of
the document.

Thanks.
