Dear List:
What is secure search and what is its website. My windows xp computer that
I will retire seems to be using the search engine with internet explorer
called secure search. I just got another computer with windows ten on it.
It is using Google as the search engine. Would you recommend using google
or using the secure search engine for my windows ten computer? Thanks.

Hi,
To answer your questions. Question 1, no and question 2 no.
Thunderbird works well as well as Outlook or Becky.
As far as webmail, it really depends on the service used.

You are kidding? You mean there is no way to use windows 10 without
editing the registry to bypass the use of a password?

No! You have to set password in order to use in windows 10. It's possible to
cancel it, but it' require to use in registry to change it.

RE: Have A Problem With Insert A Insert S

2016-06-06 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Hi,
It is installed by default but not switched on.

Back in the 8.0 days there was an issue where it could turn on after
installing, but that was fixed a long time ago.

the enhanced insert layout is installed by default and active. press control
alt zero to turn it off.
myself i uninstall it every time a new version of w e comes out.
it reasigns keys and causes w e conflicts it undefines the w e read to end.
insert s is a second audo load key. not for the sys tray. etc.

Hi. The reason is that the layout that you are probably using is the
zoomtext Fusion layout. This layout uses the screen reading standards, like
insert S for speak all, Insert f7, etc. You might want to go into the
Window-Eyes control panel, expand the keyboard treview by hitting k and then
right arro, and arroing down to layouts, and tabbing until you hear
Window-Eyes tell you the layout you are on and then down arro and select the
Window-Eyes defaults layout and hit the apply layout button.

Any time I press insert s I get speak all on or speak all off. When ever or
wherever I press insert a WE reads whatever the pic cursor is on. When I
used an earlier version of WE it worked correctly, not now. I hope this
makes clearer.

Hi Marcie,

If you press Windows-D to go to the desktop and then press Insert-S, are you
saying the system tray isn't focused?

Thanks,

Rod

I was told that pressing insert s would take me to the system tray but when
I press insert s I get speak all on/off and then I looked in the manual and
found speak all is insert a and going into the system tray is insert s.
When I tried insert a it just reads the current place where the application
is focused for example, when I'm on thunder-bird on the desktop it says
Mozilla thunder-bird. I am using the most current version of WE. Terry told
me that I have to remap the keys but is not
sure where I have to go to do this. Please help! Thank you,

RE: Question about upgrading to windows 10

2016-06-06 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Windows XP Home allowed you to not set a password and go right to the desktop.
If you wanted to do this in XP Pro, then, if you installed the Power Tools
add-on from Microsoft, there was an Auto Logon option you could choose.
In that case, though, you had to have a password, but, using the tool, you just
inserted the password into the edit box and it was inserted for you and you got
to the desktop every time.
I have an old XP Pro box here, and this is what I did.
Loved the trip down memory lane. Smile

Best,

Rod

if you open the run dialog with windows r and type in control userpasswords2
you can set it to log on automatically and by pass the log on screen all
together.
this applies to windows 7 , 8 and 10.
i don't know about xp.

I am not sure why my experience is different, but I have two computers that did
not have passwords. When I upgraded both to Windows 10, it is true that they
did not go directly to the desktop, however I was able to just press a sign-in
button and did not have to set up a password.

Best regards,
