Record Macro app was RE: Request help with a Window-eyes app

2017-08-26 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Don,

I guess I'm getting a little old these days, and so I goofed when I reported
the hot keys.
The main menu hot key is Control-Windows-M while the Stop Macro hot key is
Control-Alt-Period.

 Best,

 Rod

Hi Don,

I see that the main menu hot key is Control-Shift-M.
I haven't installed the app, but I assume you can assign a hot key for each
macro you create in the main menu.
Also, the stop macro hot key is Control-Shift-Period, and so, yes, your
keyboard verbosity wasn't letting you hear it.
I'm not big on installing apps I don't use, and so I hope this is enough help,
without installing it.
I got my info about the hot keys by unzipping the app package with 7Zip and
opening the app .VBS file and looking for the pre-defined hot keys.

Best,

Rod

The app with which I need some assistance is called record macro. It is
supposed to do just what its name implies. The help tells me that
control alt will stop recording. I am wondering whether there is
another letter after the alt which is not being verbalized for some reason.

Also, how do I assign a key to launch this macro?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try getting WE to spell the item that is highlighted. It is possible it
is some punctuation like dash or plus or maybe a semicolon, for
example. I don't have this one installed, so can't be sure this will work.

RE: PDF question

2017-08-26 Thread Steve Jacobson via Talk
Robin,

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I do not think CONTROL
PGDN works if you have specified that the entire document be loaded into the
Virtual Cursor buffer. Mostly, I find it easiest to have an entire document
loaded at once even if it takes a while, but I change the option to only
load a page at a time if I am going to need to pay attention to the page
structure. I have also found this to be true if I need to print a certain
page as well. This option is in the dialog that comes up when you open a
document. As mentioned elsewhere, it is also in the reading options dialogs
as well.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Hi Tom,

Correction. The hot key is Ctrl-Shift-5, not F5, and the menu item on the
Accessibility pull-down, opened from the Edit menu, is called Change Reading
Options, at least this is the title bar of the dialog which opens.
There's a check box in the dialog which you can change to have this dialog to
always open when you open a new document.

RE: PDF question

2017-08-26 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Tom,

It's why I leave the setup assistant active; you know, it is the one which
comes up asking you how you want to load the document when you load a document
from a folder.
You can get at it from the Edit menu, on the Accessibility pull-down, and the
shortcut is Ctrl-Shift-F5.

Best,

Rod

I've always used the read full document option and have read manuals
with hundreds of pages. It may take a while to load but then you've got
the whole thing like a giant web site.
I don't know where that setting is because I haven't used Acrobat in
quite a while.
Good luck,
Tom

After you find the enter key press space you will hear mute then press enter

To save the change.
You will need to do this to all the keys you want to change.

Although you can not get it to stop speaking the words alt and control,
you can find them in the key label section and tab to the edit box and
simply erase the names there. As for enter and escape, they do have a
mute toggle. I don't remember exactly how to get to the key label
setting right now, though. I am sure someone can give directions to
this if you need it.

At last I have migrated to Jaws. I have to confess I'm not enjoying the
experience so far but realise I need to learn how to tweak some
 settings.

My first problem is that I don't like the speech! I strongly disliked
 the
default Eloquence and am using Peter at the moment but wondered which
 voices
people are using and feel are clearest.

I think it is going to be a long time before I will be able to say I
 prefer
 Jaws to Windoweyes.

I hadn't realised that insert c to reach the Outlook Calendar was a
 Window-eyes key.

How do I access the Outlook calendar using Jaws please?
