Re: setting up narrator

If you have Windows 10 version 1809 or later, the controls for
Narrator have changed, so those may not work unless you set it back to
legacy controls.

Re: Fix for Window-Eyes

2019-08-05 Thread peter Chin via Talk

Hello Rod,

Thanks for your suggestion. I will keep it in case I come across this
problem.

In the meantime, since last week, I have been getting problems with my
Windows 8.1 machine and Window-Eyes 9.5.4. On start up, Window-Eyes seems to
get stuck in some sort of custom control and the computer becomes useless
until I restart Window-Eyes with ALT+CTRL+W. I waonder what could be causing
this problem.

Any suggestions from anyone would be welcome.

Subject: Fix for Window-Eyes

Hi everyone,

For those who are having issues getting Window-Eyes to load at all, or
perhaps to load without throwing an error, I think I have a fix.
I do believe that three apps are causing problems and should be disabled in
the App Manager.

These are:

Eloquence fix
diagnostics
windows enhance

If you cannot get Window-Eyes to load at all, you can get it to load by
pressing the normal hot key to load it, that is, Ctrl-Alt-W, and then
quickly press and hold down the left shift key, not the right one, but the
left one.
This loads Window-Eyes with apps off, and you can then proceed to set app
execution to manual in the apps menu.
Once you do this, you can go to the app manager, find the above apps, and
disable them.
After this, you can set app execution to on again, and Window-Eyes should be
restored to proper operation.
The one functionality of the Windows enhance app which you will miss is the
enhanced system tray, where the app would fill the system tray with all the
notification area icons it could find.
However, you can still manually turn on icons in Windows settings, like you
have to do with other screen readers.

I hope this helps many of you having troubles.

Good luck,

Rod
