Re: nfl game pass

2017-08-10 Thread Alan Paganelli via Talk
The NFL season is about to start. The NFL wants you to shell out $99.99 for the
2017 season. watching the games on television is worthless to me because they
say things such as look at that! He dropped the ball! Fumble! where has if you
listen to the radio, you get a full audio description. The NFL just can't get
that through their effing heads. I don't need coaches Phil or any of that
crap. I have been complaining for several seasons that it is not fair that I
have to pay 100 bucks the audio pass only cost 40 colors are year until the and
FL got really. greedy. I'm just not going to pay them $100 this year

Re: David Woo interview

2016-06-17 Thread Alan Paganelli via Talk
I personally believe it's more about the decline of Windows usage and as the
paid screen reader declines, and more people go to free screen readers, the
market for paid screen readers will continue to decline. The day may yet come
when that happens or as somebody once said, nothing lasts forever and the
deepest well runs dry.

Re: router suggestions

I like the ASUS WI-FI routers. The installation disk is pretty simple to use
if you stick to the recommended standard settings. Your also notified when
installation is complete.

I should also say in fairness that my ASUS wireless router was bought in 2011
and still going strong today.

Re: Three beeps swhen shutting down computer, what do they mean, and what can I do to get rid of them

2016-04-20 Thread Alan Paganelli via Talk
Ever sense I installed Windows 10 on my HP laptop I have heard those beeps just
before Window Eyes starts up. Sense It seems it doesn't effect my computer, It
doesn't concern me. Window Eyes starts just after that. There was an update
to win 10 and that's when I noticed the beeps. It tells me window eyes is
coming up. I get the reverse upon shut down so I'm not concerned about it.

I was getting those messages too and ignoring them. One day a wile back I was

installing. I clicked nothing to start the installation. I don't think much

Windows and Windows 10 in particular. Like I say, this Windows laptop will be

Re: installing wineyes on a windows 7 machine

2015-11-19 Thread Alan Paganelli via Talk
On my windows 7 laptop it's called account user control. It asks you if you
want to install and then it names the program. For example, Window Eyes. The
default button is yes. You can disable this in settings. On the face of it,
you may wish to turn it off. On the other hand, when some unknown program
wants to install and you have no clue what it is, you can press N for no and
the program won't install. It's a mixed blessing. Depending on your anti
virus software, it may check the program before you even know it's there.
Personally, I leave both turned on.

Re: need laptop suggestions

2015-11-18 Thread Alan Paganelli via Talk
I had an Asus netbook from 2009. It still works today. About all it's good
for is email and you can no longer get any updates but I put my old copy of WE
7.5 on it and by golly, it came up talking. I couldn't get any updates for the
anti virus as they were up to date as of around 2011 or so. You can't beat it
for portibility in a Windows computer. Today I use my iPad air in a QWERTY
keyboard case but I still have the XP netbook on a shelf just in case.

but with windows 10, once you have done the in place install it will be
automatically activated with microsoft. then you can do a clean install.
what I did was, while still running windows 10 is to use a system reset
 instead.
this also reinstalleds windows with the choice to keep your personal files
 or save nothing.
both ways you still get a clean registry and a reinstallation of windows and
 the default apps.
both ways will erase the previously installed apps you installed after
 windows was installed.
 I kept my personal files.
it keeps the desktop icons and personal folders you created. but not the
 programs.
and it kept all my personal installation program files so I could reinstall
 again.
it kept the folders where I have the shareware and commercial programs I
 have to install.
I use a folder called installations. with sub folders for each program.
I copy all my installation cd’s there so even if I lose the cd’s I will
still be able to re install them.
w e, openbook, text aloud, goldwave, printer drivers etc. are all there. and on
 carbonite on line backup.
 **
the setup part of your programs are not speech friendly at all with windows
 10. many controls and instructions will not speak without using the mouse.
even setup programs that have full speech when installing them with windows
 7.

Re: List Problems

2015-08-30 Thread Alan Paganelli via Talk
Bouncing usually means your provider's quota for disk space has been exceded.
Clearing out old mail saved on their server usually clears up things. I had my
email setup to keep a copy of sent mail on the server. Over time that builds
up again. The way to fix it is to go back in and change that check box to
unchecked.

The irony is, that all the people complaining about being
bounced are able to tell us on the list that they have been
bounced, thus being able to post on the list. That is why I
don't consider this problem to be a priority.

I talked with someone at the NFL who told me that they will no longer be
supplying audio pass. This was a service that allow you to listen to NFL
teams using the home feeds of the individual radio broadcasts of the teams.
It's great if you want to follow a team that isn't in your area.
Anyway, if someone stumbles onto another source for home team radio
coverage on the net I'd like to know. Terry Chaney
