Hi,

To save your sent messages automatically, go to Tools, Options and right
arrow to the Send tab. Tab once and check the 'Save copies of sent items to
the save folder'.

This is an odd question. When Sending email using Windows Live Mail, is
there any way to Save a copy of the Email Sent?

In other mail programs, there is usually a folder for Sent mail, but I
am not seeing one in Windows Live Mail.Is there one? And if so,
where do I find it, or flip a switch to have one?

Thanks,

Grumpy Dave

Hello,

The above update removes software on your system related to the free upgrade

would this update have on users of WindowEyes and WindowEyes for office?

Microsoft Speech Annoyance

2016-05-27 Thread Dan Rathburn via Talk

Hello,

I'm using the Microsoft Speech Platform with the U.S. English voice, WE 9.4
and Windows 7 HP. The problem is that it expands abreviations to whole
words even when it's not appropriate. For example, instead of saying
"Wizard of OZ" it says "Wizard of Ounce" or the word "miss" is pronounced
"Mississippi" regrardless of the context. I've played with the settings in
the Screen tab in the WE control panel but nothing helps. Is there a fix or
is it a limitation of the synthesizer?

For those in the U.S., have a good Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks,

Dan

Subject: Re: Extractin Digital Talking Book Problem

I was also going to suggest checking the cartridge. All that
really is is a flash drive inside an enclosure that looks very much like a
talking book case.

It could also be that the book, itself is corrupted. you might try
downloading that particular book again and then first unzip it and see
what happens. then if it unzips ok, then go ahead and copy it to your
cartridge. I'd also like to recommend 7zip. It's a great program, fully
accessible with Window-eyes, and all screenreaders for that matter.

I just tried this and it worked fine. But I discovered years ago that it
was faster to extract the book on my hard drive and then copy it to the

USB 3 thumb drive on a USB 3 port.

You can also try opening the context menu on the zip file and unblocking
it.

If none of this works the cartridge may be corrupted. I'd open My
computer, select the drive, context menu, properties, tools, and check
the drive. Or you can run ChkDsk from a command prompt if you're familiar
with that method.

Good luck,
Tom

Loss of speech

2015-12-18 Thread Dan Rathburn via Talk

Hello,

I upgraded to WE 9.3.1 yesterday successfully. However, this afternoon,
I've lost speech and had to restart WE three times. Twice, speech was lost
after opening a link in an email in WLM 2009. One was a Kepler update from
NASA and the other was alink in an weekly update from the city of Royal Oak,
Michigan. The third loss of speech happened while using the OCR pportion of
MP Navigator which came with my Canon scanner. I haven't had this happen
with WE for a very long time. I'm using an Acer laptop with Windows 7 HP
64-bit, I.E. 11 and the SAPI synthesizer. The link from Royal Oak leads to
weekly police reports in PDF format. Loss of speech happened when Adobe
Reader DC tried to open the PDF.

I didn't have any of these problems with WE 9.2.

Regards,

Dan

Re: WE 9.2 and IE 11

2015-08-24 Thread Dan Rathburn via Talk

Hi,

I'm running WE 9.2 and Windows 7 HP 64-bit on a 6-year old Acer laptop with
only 2 Gigs of ram. It has a ATI Radian HD3200 graphics and Realtech HD
sound card built-in and I'm not experiencing the constant crashes that
others are reporting. My biggest complaaint about I.E. 11 is encountering
links that can't be opened, buttons that can't be clicked, combo boxes that
can't be activated and so on. I am particularly disappointed that the
Walmart.com web site is almost impossible to use any more. In the past,
I've ordered from Walmart.com every 6 to 8 weeks. The orders consisted of
non-perishible food, household items and personal products at very
competitive prices. I was unable to complete a questionaire on line in
preparation for a doctor's appointment because links wouldn't open and edit
boxes wouldn't accept text. These type of issues directly affect my ability
to function independently as a blind person. I know that a screenreader
can't overcome a poorly designed web site but I can empathize with those
that feel that accessibility in general is not as good as it should be
nowadays.

I will continue to use WE and hope that future releases will address some of
these issues.

Respectively,

Dan

If you call their Tech Support, they won't say that 9.1 or 9.2 has been
a Step backwards, but what they do not say, often tells the story they
can not say over the phone. After all, management might be listening,
and heaven forbid someone tell the truth about a product.

Although, I am still wondering what the differences are between those
systems that are said to run 9.2 without a stitch of problems, and the
systems those of us who can barely get a session on the Web finished
without speech dropping out, or the system freezing up.

I asked this question to those who had those systems that were having no
issues, but did not get a single reply. So I'll ask my question to
those of us who are having major issues with 9.X.

To those who are finding 9.2, or 9.1 locking up, or Speech Dropping out,
or requiring a restart of WE, or a hard Re Boot, does your computer have
a Dedicated Sound card in the system?

Meaning, the Sound chips you are using, are on a Card that is plugged
into the Mother Board, rather than are built into the Mother board from
the Mother board manufacturer.

This system I use, has no dedecated Sound card, but is using the built
in Graphics as well as the built in Sound features that were part of the
Mother board.

How about the rest of you, if you can write an Email without having the
system freeze.

Get Windows 10 at Start-up

2015-08-17 Thread Dan Rathburn via Talk

Hello,

I reserved a copy of Windows 10 and I thought I would have to download and
install or not. I received the email from Microsoft that my copy of Windows
10 is available. Now, when I start my computer, Windows Update starts
automatically and starts downloading Windows 10. I do not want to download
or install 10 at this time so How do I get Microsoft to quit bugging me
about it. I'm running Office edition of WE 9.2 and windows 7 HP.

Thanks,

Dan

Re: Messages being bounced

Hi,

I bit the bullet and replied to message and I'm getting messages again.
Comcast is the only cable service available in my condo complex so I'm stuck
with it. The same thing happened with the Eyes-Free list a few weeks ago.

Dan

I had the same experience with my Comcast account - bounced emails from
the list. Finally got the email to re-confirm my subscription to this
list and messages are again being received.

Office 2013 Problems

2015-03-19 Thread Dan Rathburn via Talk

Hello,

I took the plunge and bought Office 2013 through Amazon. I created a
Microsoft account and downloaded and installed Office 2013. When I try to
start any of the components of Office, I get the error message that it has
stopped working and will be closed. At one point, I was asked if I wanted
to go into safe mode to diagnose the problem. I couldn't remember if WE
7.55.4.1 would work in safe mode at the time so I declined. Before I bug
Microsoft about it, I thought somebody might have some ideas I could try.

Thanks,

Dan

Office 2013 Problems

Hello,

Just to update, I found out that I needed to set the file associations for
the components of Office in the Control Panel. All of the components are

Next step, download Window-Eyes 9.1 for Office. Be prepared for another

Thanks for the replies,
