sapi5 eloquence

2015-08-03 Thread Josh K via Talk

Hi
I bought the sapi5 version of eloquence today from computer room
services. It works great! So if you want a version of eloquence that
works not only with window eyes but also with your games and other
screen readers even with narrator and if you also want eloquence to
support japanese korean and chinese then sapi5 eloquence for $69 from
www.atguys.com or from computer room services is what you want.

screen reader history

2015-08-04 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi
I started out in 1992 with a keynote gold SA hardware synthesizer,
keysoft version 1.33F for dos. on the dos system it also had windows3.1
but no screen reader. I had megaDots and also a braille blazer embosser.
Then I pirated a friend's copy of vocal eyes 1.1 or 1.0 because he
showed it to me and I liked it better than master-touch for dos. Once my
itinerant teacher found out I had pirated my friend's copy of vocal eyes
the elementary school district got me the ASAP dos screen reader
instead. I used it with my braille lite for speech then moved onto a
windows95 desktop with jaws but kept asap around for playing dos games,
using mega-dots and word-perfect 5.1 for dos. I am so happy you can get
talking dosbox for free from

http://batsupport.com/unsupported/dosbox/

because now I can use most all of the old dos apps again. and tyler
spivey set it up so that the ASAP dos screen reader will talk using NVDA
as long as NVDA is in sleep mode. and when I save a word perfect
document it gets saved to my real hard drive here in windows10. David
Holiday works for duxbury systems now. I asked him to give me a
registered copy of mega-dots for my talking dos box emulator but he
refused. I wonder if he would do so now now that mega dots is discontinued?

taking ownership of folders?

well it won't let me edit files there. so when I go into the security of

under advanced. how do I give myself full permissions to read and write
to both program files and program files x86 folder like windows7 used to
let me do? using the latest window eyes 9.2? i also have the master

SAD NEWS FOR AUDIO GAMING COMMUNITY

2015-08-07 Thread Josh K via Talk
Hi all gamers. It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Mr
Jim Kitchen who died on Sunday 2 August. This information I got from a
credible source, the Gamers mailing list at Audyssey.org. Many of you
know of him as a blind game developer who released many games for the
Windows platform, all at no charge and for both DOS and Windows. My
thoughts go out to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.

disk cloning software window eyes

2015-10-28 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi
if you want you can email me on this issue at joshknnd1...@gmail.com ...
can anyone recommend prefferably free or paid disk cloning software that
works with window eyes 9.2 or later? I want to clone my old hard drive
to a new solid state drive I tried macriam reflect and aomie backupper
with NVDA 2015.3 and can't seem to get them to work. I am running
windows 10 pro 64bit on an hp elitebook 6930p laptop. and i also have
the free window eyes for office i did not try anything with window eyes
yet. so if you have any ideas for free or inexpensive disk cloning
software i would prefer free because i'm low on money at the moment and
I'm guessing the ssd will be here in the mail in a day or two. I got a
250gig ssd hoping it will give a big performance boost to this laptop.
and i plan on getting another laptop with an ssd off newegg with
windows7 on it and will upgrade that one to windows10 once i have it and
will also put both NVDA and window eyes for office on the new laptop as
well. I am so glad i have window eyes for office! thanks.

disk cloning and window eyes for office

2015-10-28 Thread Josh K via Talk
hey i tried macriam reflect with window eyes for office 9.2. and it is
reading a lot more information. macriam reflect is free disk cloning and
backup software for windows. so i used the mouse pointer and it read the
screen and i routed it to the disk and it said pointer routed to custom
control. could someone please make an appp for this software so window
eyes reads it better, or could someone also download this software and
help me figure out how to get it working so when my ssd comes in the
mail i can clone the old hard drive to the new ssd? if you want to
remote in let me know and i could load up window eyes for office 9.2 and
let you remote in and check out the macriam reflect software for
yourself. i don't know how to work with the custom controls in this
application but at least window eyes is giving me more info than NVDA
2015.3 was giving to me.

macrium reflect disk cloning

2015-10-28 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi
could someone please make an addon or window eyes app for the free
macrium reflect backup and disk cloning software? I don't have money at
the moment to buy something like acronis true image or casper backup. My
new solid state disk should be here in a day or two. and I am having
trouble using the NVDA object nav and mouse commands to use the main
screen of macrium reflect. window eyes when i route the mouse pointer
just says pointer routed to custom control. Sometimes i wish i were
sighted then this process would be easier and i could just use the
applications i want. and on the window eyes list they recommended i
spend $50 on casper. i don't have $50 at the moment. so because i'm
blind I need to buy software just to do one or two things that the
sighted folks can just do for free with the somewhat inaccessible
macrium reflect? NVDA reads the contents of the main screen and most of
the wizards but there are custom controls that even window eyes does not
know what to do with If you can't or don't want to write an addon to
make this app work maybe my 8 year old sighted son can help me out with
it to get the disk cloned. or if one of you wants to remote into my
machine to look at the program you can do that just let me know. why do
i have to pay $50 just to do what sighted folks can just grab a free
program and do the same thing for free? not fair.

oh yes with certain synthesizers such as svox pico, and mary-tts and

SpeechHub is a completely septa application so that several context switches
would need to occur for each speech request, and the standard way to silence
current speech might not work with an external speech program.

Did you try this with NVDA and get improved performance?

I, along with several others, cannot seem to get things going. Have

So, Josh, we are eager to hear your advice on how to install these

Not that I LONG for using them, but would be nice to have some

Thanks for your input on the matter. Please post on the list, as a

window-eyes and spotify windows app for win7

2015-03-13 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi
For those who are interested in spotify music service. window-eyes9.1
works better with the spotify windows7 application than NVDA does. With
window-eyes I can by using the application's web interface find and
select whole albums and play them. I think it has something to do with
how window-eyes does its new browse mode versus the old way that NVDA
does things in its browse mode. But the review cursor commands for
moving by clip just results in a ding sound when I try using the mouse
in that application. could someone make a window-eyes spotify app that
would tell me the name of the current song, let me share songs and things?

thanks

spotify with we9.1

2015-03-13 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi
I am using window-eyes-for-office 9.1. WE9.1 definitely works good with
the spotify program for windows7. I tried other screen readers and they
do not let me choose albums and things to listen to. If possible I would
like someone to make a window-eyes app for spotify that would label the
unlabeled buttons, let us hear what song is playing, and let us make
delete and share songs albums and playlists. Also for some reason the
review cursor and also move by clip does not want to work within the
spotify program.

music services with window eyes

2015-03-16 Thread Josh K via Talk

hi

spotify works quite well with window eyes now. Now it has a web
interface. I haven't figured out how to share music and make playlists.
Nor can I tell what song is currently playing. I also don't know how to
go and buy the song directly. But I can using window eyes 9.1 search for
and play individual tracks and albums. I can move through tracks and
fast forward and rewind and turn up and down the volume as well. Spotify
works better with window eyes 9.1 than it does with NVDA. window eyes
yes, NVDA no. But in spotify the review cursor mouse pointer and move by
clip do not seem to work. I do not know why this is.

I think that is why we need an app to enhance its accessibility. I do
know that it that is spotify works with window eyes 9.1 works better
than NVDA 2015.1 does though. Also spotify has many more songs than
pandora does.

OCR for window eyes

I was listening to a podcast on accessible world dot org and it said the

well why not get around that by using the open source tesseract engine

I do feel, however, that it would be very difficult for AI Squared to make
any reasonable commitment to offer support for a device which is not
available on the market as yet.
Forgive me for prematurely offering you hope for a braille display which is
as yet still in development, and not even in this country, but overseas, in
the U.K.

Incidentally, I've recently learned that a reasonably-priced Bluetooth
14-cell braille display made by HIMS is available, and here's a link to one
seller, and I have no relationship with this company except that I have
purchased from them before:

http://bit.ly/1LkI6kA

The current price is $1300 and you can get a free carrying case for it if
you purchase before the end of July.

Sincerely,

Rod

hi

Is AI-squared at all interested in making window-eyes work with the
canute braille display when it comes out? Finally a braille display that
will be affordable to me.

keynote gold and infovox230 for window-eyes?

2015-07-09 Thread Josh K via Talk

hello,

I was wondering if you guys on the list could do me a favor? you see
there are two old synthesizers I would love to use with window eyes once
more but on a modern computer. they are keynote gold multilingual, and
infovox230. keynote gold is not sapi5 is only runs on brailleNotes.
infovox230 is an older sapi4 synthesizer.
so could you all please if you wish to use these synthesizers in a
modern form sapi5 with your window-eyes please email ferran.gallego
ferran.gall...@codefactoryglobal.com and voice your wishes. I tried
emailing humanware and acapela group but they are not interested
probably because I am an individual and I am not a company. but you see
if codeFactory gets behind us a good legitimate company then maybe
humanware and acapela group will listen and partner with them and bring
us infovox230 sapi5 and keynote gold sapi5 and also keynote gold for
android and infovox230 for android and maybe even keySoft for android!
that would bring them in more money for those 5 products!

thanks

Josh

go into the voices dialog of narrator or go into computer then into the
c drive then into the windows folder then into the syswow64 folder then
into the speech folder and then into the speech-uks folder then hit
enter on sapi.cpl and in the combo box choose your eloquence voice you
want to be the default one hit apply then ok. then narrator will use the

you get more languages and features the window eyes one does not
offer. I have one kid and am raising him on my own and will still

why keynote gold for window eyes?

2015-07-09 Thread Josh K via Talk

here is why keynote gold.
ok here is a numbered list of reasons.

1. Keynote gold's speech is very loud, crisp and clear.
2. It has very accurate pronunciation, people with hearing problems may
want such clarity.

3. It has an even smaller footprint than eloquence.
4. It is used in the brailleNote, the most popular notetaker.
5. Its foreign language pronunciation is also very very clear, folks
with hearing problems may appreciate this.
6. At normal rates of speed it sounds nearly human especially for a
formant synthesizer.
7. You can understand it outside in noisy environments because of its
clarity and pronunciation accuracy.

8. It was used in the franklin language master.
9. It deserves to be upgraded and not just thrown away.
10. Most important its my favorite.

windows. I used dosbox's output or record to wave file feature to get
this great keynote gold sample. I want to use this voice with NVDA
and window eyes as a sapi5 voice. and if not I would like it if
ESpeak's klatt variant were modified to sound just like keynote gold.
