Hi,

is called Getting Started with Android.

So if I may ask you, what android products do you use, and would
you be willing to give me a crash course in android?
I'm really thinking about switching to an android phone, because
My Iphone 7 has serious Voiceover issues involving the focus of
items. I have reported, and reported, and reported this issue to
apple, and with every update, it is not fixed. I have an amazon
fire tablet, and I dare say, the screen reader on it is not that
bad, plus it's a very affordable device. I thought about getting
the essential phone, and going with that.

Thanks for your help,
Darrell

If I had paid

bought at least

8 copied of office."

I'm in your boat, brother! I won't ever purchase any app that's
subscription based even if the cost is 50 cents a year! Sounds
horrible but
I can live with it.  Like B J, I have been using Office 2007;
even though I
received a note from Microsoft that support for Office 2007 has
ended, it is
still serving me well and I am yet to find a need for an upgrade
to the
latest Office bell and whistle. I read about folks struggling
with
something called Back Stage and how to disable it. Yikes, make
an app
better if necessary, just don't make it too complicated in order
to get this

done.

I'm interested in knowing whether or not the laws in the books
can be
invoked when it comes to dealing with adaptive app and equipment
companies.
Look at Humanware; it created the BrailleNote Touch and deployed
a
deprecated copy of the Android OS on it; it still sells for more
than
$5,000! How about HIMS? It claims to run on Android 5.1.1 which
will soon
become deprecated as well. And it sells for $6,000! In both
situations, no
path for an upgrade and, worst still, the freedom Android offers
is
nonexistent. Example: In Android Land, you can install and use
your own

preferred TTS engine. What nonsense if I dare say so!

For as long as is possible, I shall continue to look at products
in the
mainstream. As I slowly KISS WINDOWS goodbye, I won't have to
worry about
the shenanigans of screen reader developers for this OS! I will
not pay one
cent for any type of Jaws subscription. Until my WINDOWS
machines all die
naturally, I'll STICK WITH WINDOW-EYES which still PUTS SOME
GREAT FOOD on

my wee, small table!

Sincerely,
Olusegun

Subject: My Take On things.

First of all I am not sure where the idea of SMA for Window Eyes
is
cheaper than the SMA for JAWS. I had a choice of either paying
fifty
dollars for the newest Window Eyes of buying an SMA for two
hundred
dollars and getting the last update free. Window Eyes SMA is
good for
two versions. JAWS SMA for two versions is one hundred eighty
dollars if
you use citrix metaframe or one hundred twenty dollars for Home
Version
of JAWS which is good for two upgrades. Freedom Scientific has
never
said you pay for an upgrade between major versions or buy an SMA.
An

SMA for window eyes is two hundred dollars for two upgrades.

Second of all Window Eyes has gotten rid of what I thought two of
the
best features were. The first is the creation of set files and
the
second is to be able to use the Window Eyes mouse more
proficiently.

Third JAWS runs more smoothly than does Window Eyes at this
point. It
can also start up in Windows 7 without messing up the video
display and

making the screen unseeable.

Fourth while there are still issues with Window Eyes crashing
Explorer

and other programs JAWS does not seem to have that issue.

Fifth I have been a Window Eyes user for better than ten years.
I
switched to it from JAWS and at that time was very pleased but
since
version 9 there seems to be more problems that do not get fixed.
To

avoid dealing with the crashes I did renew my JAWS to current.

Sixth As to tech support most of the time lately you get the same
from
either company. "It is your computer" Ok so sometimes that could
be true

but it is also an easy out.

Seventh It is fine to support a company but one also needs to be
honest
about things. Right now my number one recommendation would be
NVDA. No
screen reader will ever be perfect but when one pays for an SMA
one

should be able to expect improvements that can be noticed.

I can understand why the deal was made. It is indeed about
profit for

your products but maybe Window Eyes should never have had a free
version. Maybe we should have seen at that time there would be
other

major changes that we might not like.

Hopefully both programs will be available so that a person can
choose
which problems they wish to deal with. So yes JAWS does have
some issues

but all screen readers always will

RE: Webinar and tutorial topics - feedback requested

2015-11-25 Thread evelyn weckerly via Talk

Hi,

I agree fully with Vaughan about the manual including the need to
keepx current. I also like having a copy on my Braille device
for perusal and learning. I do much better with tech stuff that
wan. I can't comment about the jebinars because I have not used
them.

I don't disagree with any of the issues people have suggested,
but nothing beats a comprehensive manual. I think that as
tutorials are developed and released, it should be possible to
incorporate the transcripts into the user manual. An app update
process could be used to add new information to the Window-eyes
manual.

I personally don't like tutorials, as I find them too slow. I do
like step by step instructions that I can load into the braile
device. The manual is where I look first, but I think it needs
on-going updating as new learning resources are released.

Vaughan.

Using itunes 12.3 with WE would be nice. Such as using the file
sharing option?

Ai Squared would like to request your feedback. What topics,
applications and tasks would you like for us to cover in a future
Window-Eyes webinar or tutorial? The more information and details
you can provide the better. Here are a few examples to get your
creative juices flowing:

1. Using the Start Menu in Windows 10
2. Finding apps in the Windows Store
3. Purchasing a product from Amazon.com
4. What is ARIA and how can it help me on the web?
5. What is a Window-Eyes app?

Thanks,
Marc Solomon

Hi,

So if that's the case and you have windows 10 or you've purchased
a windows
10 machine, wineyes 9.2 doesn't come on a cd. How can you get
around this?

I don't believe it will. They will have to upgrade to 9.2
before upgrading

to Windows 10.

RE: Seeking Your Input

2015-05-28 Thread evelyn weckerly via Talk

Hi,

Speaking of Dancing Dots, I have tried to get them to make Gdfeel
accessible with WE, but so far, no real go. I have a license,
but I am considering selbing it. I refuse to relearn Jaws or pay
for it. Using the demo is not an acceptable alternative either
because one has to close and restart the program frequently-a big
nuisance if not an impossible one if you are trying to scan and
braille music.
