If I want to get the home addition of jaws how many computers can I put jaws on to and will I get a different authorization number for each one? I have not migrated yet, but am going to on July 7 since for me I am all up to date with everything on the Window eyes side. I tried looking it up but could not find anything about the authorization numbers or how many computers can I put the home addition on. As far as the pro side am not going to get it cause I don't work in a commercial environment. So if anyone has any info please email me. Thank you. One of the features that will be in JAWS 18 will be a talking mouse support. The guys at VFO group has said that They have plans to put the talking mouse support in Zoomtext, and make JAWS work with it. This made me laugh, as first of all, Zoomtext already has Window-eyes in it, called Fusion, secondly, Zoomtext, from my understanding, already has built in mouse support already with Fusion. No menschen of Window-eyes or even Fusion. In the next FSCast, VFO went into more details on JAWS 18 and Zoomtext. What is going to happen is that in Zoomtext 11, JAWS and Zoomtext will be working together. I can honestly tell you that they also plan to put in a talking mouse support for MAGic, which will be released in 2017. well we have got one, it’s called NVDA, and it’s free, and after this sherade with the new windows update, i won’t be spending any more money on any of the screen readers, that you have to take a second mortgage for, that’s my 2 pence worth. From: David via Talk Sent: Thursday, August 4, 2016 9:32 AM To: Curtis Delzer ; Window-Eyes Discussion List ; Chris Skarstad Subject: Re: still no luck updating to Win 10 anniversary edition Ain't this simply just too funny. Go pay a thousand dollars for a screen reader, and then you have to use a freeware one to get things installed. No, guys, this time I am not here to complain, simply just think it to be a smiler. One thing the makers of the paid-for screen readers now aday may want to consider, is if it would not have been an idea to have a somehow light version of the screen reader, that would kick in when installing things. Let us have all the jingles and bells, when we need it, but let us have a screen reader that helps us out when all we need is speech. To tell the user to go and get another screen reader, so as to have their paid-for product up running; well, to a less trained new user, may seem not just strange, but directly get them worried. Just thought to throw the idea on the board, even if we have had it there before. But relying on the amount of messages seen on the list the last few days, in this regard, tells me something might be wanted to be a bit more smooth running in the future. BTW, has NVDA been translated into all the languages supported by Jaws and Window-Eyes? Or, would we end up with a user in a foreign language, having to pay for his screen reader in his language, but use a non-translated version of NVDA for his installation tweaking? That at least, from many years of training non-English users, I could say would throw a multitude off the wagon. Now, I can get the download started from the Upgrade option in the Help menu. Re: Red Hot News from Ai Squared!
i totally agree. From: David via Talk Sent: Tuesday, October 20, 2015 12:56 AM To: Chip Orange ; Window-Eyes Discussion List ; 'Jeremy Curry' Subject: Re: Red Hot News from Ai Squared! Only thing I don't get, is why you would like to put any kind of teaser out like this. Seems your screen reader needs more attention, and things need a brush. Then to flush the market with a ton of teasers, "look what we may bring soon", "Just wait till next year", and so forth, seems no less than frustrating. besides, If this was meant to be a non-textual teaser, with only some kind of iconic or even grapical appearance, why post it to a list that mainly is trafficated by more or less blind people. Instead of teasing, all you accomplished was to frustrate. Honestly, that is no beneficial business approach. I do second the request, that you please keep this list freed from any more of such stuff. We have enough complaints about people posting Off-Topic matters here, let alone that we now have to deal with even the list-managers themselves putting out mails that are nothing but useless. You know, that is actually another version of what in the computer world is named SPAM. Unwanted, non-requested and often useless emails that float into your mailbox. If the owners of this list find there is a bit too little traffic on the list, why not put out something readable, informative, and REAL. Stop all that "Stay tuned and we may happen to show you what we can do" stuff. Get back to your customers, when you have things ready, and when you are willing to share it in a manner that your customers actually know to read. You, AISquared if any, should know what your screen reader can perform. You would have absolutely no excuse for throwing out mails like this, then telling the market "oh, sorry, we did not make it accessible". Please, abstain from any more of this stuff. Among others, I did let the synth chatter away, for a minute or two, trying to figure what it all was about. I immediately recognized it as html-code, but sometimes you can figure a thing or two, from the few pieces of text in between the code. This time, a clear waiste of time, and afterwards, a long line of complaints. And when you come back with further info on the matter, I really still am scratching my hair off, to figure what it all was about, or meant to say. Your explanation, Jeremy, simply gave NO meaning whatsoever. What was the whole message trying to convey? That you had too much leasure time at work, or is it possible we are to take this teaser seriously, and hope for an anouncement in the near future about some exciting news from the screen reader front? If the latter, why did you not just tell us so, in plain readable text? even when you were to explain the flaw? Just wondering. Time to get back to what this list - the way I understand it - is purposed for. Anyone else have some meaningful questions on how to operate the screen reader? Re: For those with speech loss and crash issues
well all i can say, is that if you pay good money for a program, you expect it to work properly, that’s why i have stopped using it, i for 1 don’t like the new copy and paste feature, that comes with the latest window eyes, and of course the fact that it crashes when ever an email comes in when you are in windows live mail, doesn’t help matters, just my 2 pence worth, all the best, john. From: Neville via Talk Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2015 11:54 PM To: Window Eyes Subject: For those with speech loss and crash issues The crashing problem has been a topic for discussion on the list for quite a while now but I can not remember anyone from Ai Squared making any constructive comment on the subject. i.e. Can they duplicate the problem? Has the problem been solved for the next release? In my case, the loss of speech or crashing happens mainly when using IE 11 and FF. ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
