Not hearing stars when I enter Passwords and Some Other Keys
Hey Guys, I'm using WE 8.4 on Windows 64-bit with IE11. Something's happened to my WE 8.4 settings somehow. Now, when I enter passwords, I don't hear anything; I used to hear star star and so on. Also, I no longer hear certain keys when they're pressed such as caps lock and num lock. I used to hear them, and I'd like to hear them again. Can someone tell me what I need to change to fix them so they're announced again? And how to hear the star when I enter a password? Are these related or separate issues? Thanks very much for any advice. Evan ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. RE: Not hearing stars when I enter Passwords and Some Other Keys
Hi Evan, In the WE control panel, arrow down to Verbosity, expand this, arrow down to Common, expand this, and, finally, arrow down to Miscellaneous. Then, press F6, and tab to the setting called "Speak the word star in password edit boxes." Note that you must set the Scope to Global and the next control to "Yes" for the setting to be in effect throughout Windows. Once you set things as you wish, press Control-S to save your settings. As for the other keys you were speaking about, the speaking of these is found in the WE control panel under Keyboard, expand this, and arrow down to Special keys. Once you find this, press F6 and tab through all the various settings, since they're all there. Once again, you need to set the Scope as well as the state of the relevant control, and when you're done, save your settings with Control-S. I hope this helps, Rod -Original Message- From: Talk [mailto:talk-bounces+rod_hutton=hotmail@lists.window-eyes.com] On Behalf Of Evan Reese via Talk Sent: October 1, 2015 6:27 PM To: Gayle ; Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Not hearing stars when I enter Passwords and Some Other Keys Hey Guys, I'm using WE 8.4 on Windows 64-bit with IE11.
