One of the options from within Kurzweil is to shut down instead of just
exiting.

Hi Mike,

I'm only guessing here, but I know you can configure Kurzweil to start with 
Windows.
Therefore, perhaps exiting Kurzweil would cause Windows to shut down.
I have Kurzweil, and I haven't tried it yet, but that's my guess. Smile

first thing to check is that all the set files are up to date.
there was something else. itwas something to do with useing the w e diagnostic 
program to repair the video drivers after the reinstall of w e 9.5.
