Some of the verbosity can be eliminated. In Control Panel, with "Show Advanced Options" enabled, go to Verbosity/Browse Mode and modify what you want to hear. You cannot turn off the speaking of "Link," except for in read-to-end. You can turn off the speaking of "List."
