RE: window eyes changed to demo
Hi, I've been using Window-Eyes retail for years. The only time I found my installed copy of Window-Eyes becoming a demo version was when I was re-installing Window-Eyes by using incremental upgrade packages. One time, when I tried an experiment, and upgraded version 7.0 to 8.0, it turned into a demo. Indeed, even when I upgraded to the next version, i.e., 8.4, it would not go out of demo mode. This confused me, and yet there was no alternative for me but to completely uninstall Window-Eyes and then re-install all the incremental packages. I don't believed I used the Removal Tool, which is on every CD, and note that you must use the version of the Removal Tool for the version of Window-Eyes you are uninstalling. I do believe, as I say, that I simply uninstalled Window-Eyes from Add/Remove Programs, rebooted, and then installed all the incremental packages in the proper sequence. If you're running Windows 10, you can't even install Window-Eyes unless you have at least 9.2. In that event, you could try to use each of them in the proper sequence, in order to finally arrive at 9.5.4. What makes me dubious is that even 9.5.4 had an upgrade to a version with the same number and yet it had a renewed licence which had recently expired. To make a long story short, I think you'll need a zip archive containing the final fully-licenced 9.5.4. This would be either Window-Eyes for Office or a retail version. A recent google search reveals that the former is no longer available at http://www.windoweyesforoffice.com The latter may be available from a good Samaritan. Smile. Sounds like you know something about Jaws. I am very new at Jaws with a question. My booklets talk about the Jaws key but don't tell me what it is. Also, is there a keystroke for reading a document top to bottom? It was necessary for me to give up my dear window-eyes which was the only screen reader I ever used. I am using windows 10 and Jaws is 17 plus. Quite a challenge. Thanks in advance. The most effective way is to press win-r for run and type: %appdata% Here you find a folder freedom scientific In this folder you will find settings about jaws. In the folder there is a Jaws folder and there you will find a folder with the version number. 2018 or 18, 17 etc. You can simply copy this folder to the same location on the other computer. I think it is better to use nvda when copying it on the new computer so jaws will not lock files. If anyone wants the WE for Office, I could put it in my Dropbox and send the link to this list. -Original Message- From: Rod Hutton via Talk Sent: Thursday, May 30, 2019 9:49 AM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Cc: Rod Hutton Subject: RE: window eyes changed to demo Hi, I've been using Window-Eyes retail for years. Smile.
