Transferring We Settings to another PC

2015-05-07 Thread Mike Pietruk via Talk
I like keeping my WE settings on my PCs uniform as possible; if I decide
to change something, I prefer, if possible, to make those changes on my
other PCs.
Are there specific files, if I coped them from one pc to another, that
will do this for me?
If so, which files? And has someone written an app/utility to assist with
this?

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

In my humble opinion, transferring settings is overly complicated, even for
global settings.

Hth,

Rod

That's why I ask the question. There have to be key files in doing this
as that's where the settings reside.
I have certain defined hotkeys,
pagemarkers, settings which might take me hours not only to reconstruct
but also to figure where some of those settings and hotkeys are defined.
In the old WE days, when everything was in a single directory, this was
easy to do.
So that's why I raise the question.

I think that practically everything you would need is in the directory you
open when you do Files, Explore Profile. I would probably copy that entire
folder, and then on the new computer update as necessary. But I didn't read
all of the messages leading up to this one.

Thanks Lloyd and Netbat!

That seems to be the consensus answer; and it also makes sense.

This sounds like a great opportunity for a WE enhancement. Perhaps an Export
Settings and Import Settings could be added by AI Squared in a future
release. A dialog could be presented where one could check which settings
could be chosen to export or import.
